Flower Child

I didn't get to properly blog about yesterday because I was busy uploading the Kissable video. My Dad is so silly. After Mom picked me up from Miss Anne's, we spent less than an hour at home before we headed out again. I spent the time working on getting my fist in my mouth. I'm so close I can almost taste the $5 Dad bet me that I couldn't do it.

M&D were doing movie night with Patty & Stu and Kristin & Phil. They went to watch Bruno at the AMC Fork & Screen down town but I wasn't allowed to go. Hey, that's cool, I got to go spend time with Grandma & Grandpa Davenport. The three of us met Aunt Darty and Uncle Dave for dinner at Paulo & Bill. I had a bottle while everyone else had salad. I don't know why they didn't all get bottles too because my bottle was TOTALLY good. Mmmmm, bottttle.

After we got back, I was greeted with some toe kisses from my cousin Riley. Everyone loves my toes! GmaD had to water her flowers so I got to tag along for a little tour as well. I love flowers and both sets of my Grandparents have really pretty ones. The closest thing M&D have to flowers at home are my cute outfits, like the one I wore yesterday.

Later in the evening, I did some playing in my bouncy chair and even spent a short time in the swing. After my last bottle I did some snuggling with GmaD until M&D came to pick me up.

Today was pretty chill. I went to Miss Anne's and played with Jill and Logan. So much so that I took a three hour nap. That's pretty rare because there's so much going on and I never want to miss a second. After school, I did some playing with Dad and then the three of us ran some errands. We hit Target for some diapers and then to pick up a printer Mom found on Craig's list. I wrapped up the day with a nice relaxing bath and am looking forward to tomorrow.

I've mentioned several times how Dad is kinda crazy with the camera whether it be video or still. Did you know that nary a day goes by that I don't have my picture taken? Don't get me wrong, this is not of my own accord; I'm not that vain. I'm shy by nature and if I had my way I'd never be caught on tape. Perhaps you've witnessed how I freeze whenever I see a camera? Anyway, the other night Dad and I were doing some post bath playin' and MOM caught it on tape. Wait, tape isn't right but it's sounds goofy to say Mom caught it on hard drive. Any way, you get the gist.

Who laughs harder, Dad or me?

The Bris

I woke up about 30 minutes earlier than my norm today which means we got to surprise Miss Anne by arriving about 30 minutes earlier than usual too. I hope I didn't catch her off guard. Dad wanted to wait a bit but I was too excited because I hadn't seen MA since last Wednesday. I had a lot of fun with MA but we were kind of bummed that it rained all day because we usually like to spend some time outside in the afternoon. BOOO RAIN!

That reminds me (kind of), my new swing can play lullabies, upbeat "wake time" music, an iPod and several nature sounds. One of the sounds it makes is just a stream or brook. I'll be honest, it's a real good thing I wear a diaper because listening to that for an extended amount of time can have quite an impact if you know what I mean.

Sorry if I have any typos but Dad's been doing a terrible job cutting my nails lately and has been butchering my fingers so it hurts to type. This morning he apparently thought my thumb looked too long and decided to cut off the tip. He made a circumcision joke but I didn't get it... so I cried. He's worse than that lady who put her kid's cradle in a tree top. See zoomed in section below.

Dad, don't quit your day job; a terrible mohel (pronouciation) you would make.

Well, I'm gonna go convalesce.

Since I'm still not going to Miss Anne's on Mondays yet, Grandma Herbert got stuck with me. Thankfully Dad remembered the stroller and GmaH was nice enough to take me on two walks again today. I'm getting spoiled with all of these walks. Fortunately Mom & Dad are able to counter with zero walks. Thanks?

GmaH let me watch the beginning of Enchanted because she knows I love it. Then we went into the living room where GmaH played piano and I did the singing. I'll be honest, I have pretty wicked range but my pitch needs a little work. GmaH and I will keep practicing for sure.

GmaH also read me a few books. We read The Lady with the Alligator Purse (that dumb kid keeps eating the soap. When will he learn? AHHH!) and a new book called Jake Baked the Cake. We read this one when Mom got there and I think it may be my new favorite. And it's so topical because it's about a town getting ready for a wedding and the Herbert's are getting ready for Aunt Abby's wedding. I don't think AA does everything in rhyme (Jake baked the Cake) though so that may be where the symmetry ends.

After we got home, Mom went to drop something off to a Paper Mill Designs customer and I helped Dad and Grandpa Davenport install our new dishwasher. Actually, after seeing exactly what was in for them, I think Dad made the executive decision to let the plumber do it instead. Whatever. My favorite part was seeing that Mr. & Mrs. White (the previous and only owners) had the current kitchen carpet (that's right, kitchen carpet) installed over older, uglier kitchen carpet. I'm so glad I wasn't born in a decade (or century) when that carpet was ever popular. Yikes.

Virtual Carbon Copy

Today was pretty relaxing for the most part. We played a few games of "Try to Feed Avery" where Mom & Dad try to feed me and I play defense by pulling the bottle out and moving my head from side to side. I'm really good!

I spent quite a bit of time today playing with my toys by myself because I find that just sitting with M&D is getting a bit boring. I need something to do and lately I am LOVING all my toys.

In the afternoon we did leave the house to go to a place called Sam's Club. Whoa. The carts there are HUGE. Having my car seat in there was so luxurious and spacious. That was until M&D started piling in a bunch of over-sized items that took up all my free space. Booo!

Before Sam's Club we did get a surprise visit from Aunt Abby who needed some business cards that Mom printed. AA had yet ANOTHER function for Abigail Carolina. Look how cute AA's outfit is. If I had the means, I'd totally have AA design all of my onesies. Eat your heart out Gerber.

As we were winding down for the night, we watched a TV show called Burn Notice. It was a pretty good show but I didn't hear Dad laugh at any of it as hard as he did at some commercial. I didn't really get it so I went and found it on YouTube to see if I missed something. I feel like there's an inside joke there somewhere that I don't get. W. On the upside, it's a commercial for a show called Psych which looks really good!

Game On!

On Friday Grandma Davenport came to pick me up so she could babysit me (lazy Dad can't even drop me off?? sheesh!) Our first stop was to SuperTarget. GmaD had me set up in the center of the cart so as we shopped, I got rocked in my car seat. COMFY!

We played at home for awhile then we met Dad and Aunt Darty at Nordstrom Cafe. That place was a mad house. My favorite part was seeing two ladies walk out of the cafe and into the shopping area with a couple of glasses of white wine. Nordstrom must love that. Cha-ching!

That afternoon saw some more playing with GmaD. She even did some singing which is usually Grandma Herbert's forte. She sang Rock-a-bye baby which frankly is a little messed up.

Rock-a-bye baby, in the treetop
When the wind blows, the cradle will rock
When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall
And down will come baby, cradle and all

Who's the mother of the year that has her kid's cradle up in a tree? And during a storm no less. What's the number to child protective services?

Dad did actually come to pick me up from GmaD's and on the way home he took a picture of my new car mirror. It's pretty fun because it has a quasi mobile, plays music and let's me see... well, me. Dad likes it too because he can use his mirror in conjunction with my mirror to keep tabs on me while he's driving. Come one Dad, cut the cord already!

I wasn't home long before M&D shipped me off to G&G H's so they could go to Aunt Abby's fashion show. That's okay though, I always have fun with my Gs & Gs. We did some singing and reading of course but I was zonked so I also took a nice nap.

When M&D finally took me home for the night, I thought we were primed to watch the new Indiana Jones movie but right after we started it, I lost interest and went to bed.

Today has been pretty chill. I woke up and took a bottle but got tired of Dad having all the control so I took over at the end. Now that I can grab the bottle, I like to play this game where I try to pull the bottle out of my mouth while M&D try to keep it in there. It's hilarious. And if i'm losing, I'll just swing my head to the side randomly. They don't stand a chance!

Didn't do much else today. Did some kick and playing in my bouncy chair, chilled in my play gym and Mom even read me a couple of books.

Today started a bit earlier than usual because Dad and I had to get my sisters to the spa to get their hair did. That website has some pictures of my sisters but I can't link you to them, so I'll just have to direct you. If you expand Gallery on the right side of the menu, click Pictures & Videos, click on Our Royal & Happy Clients' Gallery and go to Gallery No. 3. The dogs are arranged alphabetically with Parker first and Penny second. MY SISTERS ARE FAMOUS! They love to go see Tak at the Spa and they look so pretty when they come home that I'm almost jealous.

Of course, I'd be remiss if I didn't tout my own fame a little bit as well. Sarah Maxey Photography did some product shots for Paper Mill Designs and my birth announcement is one of the featured items. So fancy!

After we dropped the girls off, we headed to Grandma Herbert's so she could babysit today. Dad also brought the stroller which I knew probably meant there was a walk in my future. And I was right... kind of. We actually went on TWO walks. What the wha? We went on one full walk and then we walked Donna Lane home after she came by to visit.

Throughout the day I also got to spend some qt with Aunt Abby who's looking forward to her TWO fashion shows this weekend as part of the Fringe Festival. I also did some reading with GmaH (AlphaBears and The Lady With The Alligator Purse) and of course some singing too.

After I got home from GmaH's, I took a quick bottle and went to play tennis with M&D and G&G H. Needless to say, I can't play just yet but I had a lot of fun watching. M&D looked just like Lindsay Davenport & Andy Roddick.... in so much as they were holding racquets on a tennis court. Though in all honestly, it was slightly better than I was expecting. Of course, I was expecting them to trip and fall and wiff (more) but it wasn't all that bad a show. The REALLY good show came from GpaH. That guys is unbelievable! He's like a ball machine. He returns everything and can just move the ball to anywhere on the court. I hereby declare that GpaH will have to teach me tennis. I mean, after all Dad is already limping around the house and they didn't even play for an hour. YIKES!

Well, it's been a crazy fun day and I'm exhausted so it's off to bed for me.

Shooting Star

Today was my last day at Miss Anne's this week. I found out that the monkey blanket is not new and actually belongs to Logan. I think Logan must have a crush on me because he totally let's me play with it. I still can't find a picture of it on the info super web so I'll have to remember to bring the camera to MA's next week so you can see this glorious glorious blankie.

When I got home I did some playing with Mom. She had me do some tummy time in my crib and while normally I hate tummy time, Mom's given me a goal which makes it better. Mom set my Fisher-Price Miracles & Milestones Musical Projector Soother (whoa, catchy name Fisher-Price. I'd like to see the list of names you DIDN'T go with) in front of me but just out of reach. It looks so fun (and delicious) that I was really motivated to tummy time my way over to it. I found I was able use my legs to kind of kick myself forward. I didn't get all the way there because I got so excited that I... spit up. Oops.

After tummy time, I kicked it in my new bouncy chair for bit and after dinner, it was bath time. Unfortunately for Mom & Dad, I was still in kick and play mode which in my baby bathtub results in water getting everywhere. I heard Dad say it may be time to graduate to the real tub because I'm almost already too tall for this kiddie one. After my bath, I broke in my new hoodie towel from Grandma Chapman. (how cute am I?)

Well, bath time wore me out so I'm off to bed.

Rules Are Made To Be Broken

I went over to Miss Anne's again today and, of course, had a blow out. Is blowing out diapers considered a skill? If so, I RULE! MA got a new monkey blanket (Google Image it; you'll get the idea) today and while it may not be "mine" necessarily, that didn't prevent me from LOVING IT! I find that more and more I'm really interested in how things feel so I'm constantly trying to grab everything around me (where it then goes into my mouth.) And Monkey blankie is totally soft so I loved playing with it today. (Don't tell MA but I'm gonna try to sneak it into my diaper bag eventually.)

After Mom picked me up from MA's we went over Grandma & Grandpa Herbert's. G&G H got a new laptop after Mom & Dad convinced them they could get wireless internet and use their (<-- originally mis-typed as "thier" and was caught by spell check. But I thought the rule was I before E except after C. James Stuart Laurie is a schmuck. Is it really a "rule" if there are so many exceptions?) laptop anywhere in their house. Of course, this brings my Generational Technology Theory into effect. The theory essentially states that each new generation is more technology adept than the previous generation. I've only been around for a short time but have heard plenty of examples. For instance, Grandma & Grandpa Davenport's printer wasn't working so Dad had to troubleshoot. It turned out to be a multi-step fix. Step 1: Plug in Printer. Step 2: Replace printer cartridge. Anyway, G&G H asked that Mom help them set up their computer and get the wi-fi working. It's a good thing too because it even took Mom an hour+ to figure out. That's okay, I got to spend some qt with G&G H while Mom was busy playing IT.

You know what, my GTT has me pretty excited about what technologies are in store for us. I mean, I'm not even four months old and I'm already using an iPod and cell phones to blog. I can't wait to see what technology exists in 20 years that will totally stump M&D. I think I'm gonna go ahead and invest my allowance in Apple and Google now.

When we got home from G&G H's we were met with a sweet surprise. M&D finally got me a bouncy chair for our house! AHHHHHHHHHHH! I'm so excited! (come on diaper, don't fail me now.) It's a kick and play like the one at G&G D's and it's totally pink and pretty like the one at MA's. AWESOME!
When I kick the little foot prints, music plays and and the center of the flowers light up. Love it. My sisters love it too because now I can play down at their level. I foresee a million kisses in my future.

VH1 Presents: Behind the Blog

It seems as though every form of artistic expression is coupled with a "Behind the..." to go with it. Behind the Music, Behind the Scenes, etc (Googling "behind the" returned over 171M results. Somewhat interesting sidenote: when I search Bing I get 218M results. I thought Bing was supposed to filter more so I get only what I'm looking for. NICE WORK MICROSOFT!) Anyway, I thought I'd do a Behind the Blog post so my half dozen loyal readers know what goes into a blog post.

For starters, I have very little fingers so using a full size keyboard or even using a laptop isn't very productive because I'm forced to hunt and peck. Fortunately, Dad's iPod Touch has wifi and as you can see in the pic above, it has the perfect QWERTY keyboard for my fingers. However, if we're out and about or I can't get a hold of the iPod, I can also post from Mom or Dad's Blackberry which has a bit smaller keyboard but still works okay.

What you may not know is how much time I spend editing pictures and posting them to Picasa which is where I link to for all of my pictures. I also spend a fair amount of time searching the web to find links relevant (or sometimes irrelevant) to each post and since I've inherited my father's poor spelling gene, I spend a TON of time at Merriam-Webster to check my spelling (for some reason blogger spell check doesn't work well.) I also spend a lot of time at MW making sure I know the definition of words that are outside a 3 month old's vocab.

After all of that, I'm just left to my creative devices which can be pretty scary. If you've ever written anything, you know that staring at a blank page (virtual or otherwise) is terribly frightening. I feel the same way as I stare a this tiny blank screen each day. Fortunately, once I start typing I'm usually able to get on a roll. Then my only challenge is keeping Mom and Dad from sneaking peeks and finding out what I'm posting before it's published. I caught Dad red handed in the pic below!

Until Later,

Sunday, July 19, 2009

I spent the night at Grandma and Grandpa Herbert's last night so Mom & Dad could go to the Explorers match. I guess they got to see the Bryan Brothers play which is pretty cool. Here's a pic that Dad took of Bob Bryan serving in the first set. I can't wait 'til I can go to an Explorers match.

I had a lot of fun with G&G H. We read AlphaBears and The Lady With The Alligator Purse and they even let me watch Enchanted, or at least the beginning part which is the part I really like. It's a cartoon and there's a lot of singing but I lose interest when it moves to live action.

This morning G&G H took me to church. I was on my best behavior at least for the most part. I did get a little fussy but only because I wanted out of my car seat so I could check everything out. I really enjoyed all the singing and at the end, I even got to meet the minister. After church, we got back to G&G H's only to find that Mom & Dad were already there waiting for us. We also made it back in time to watch the playoff at the British Open which was only necessary because Kansas City's own Tom Watson missed a fairly short put on the last hole to win. Unfortunately, TW did NOT play well during the playoff and ended up losing to Stewart Cink. BOOO!

When we got back to our house, I took a nice long nap so I was well rested for dinner over at Aunt Darty & Uncle Dave's along with Grandma & Grandpa Davenport. Mom had to work from four to midnight though so she couldn't go - BOOO JP Morgan! I watched Mamma Mia! with GmaD and AD. The music was totally catchy and it made me want to dance. Below are a few pics. Click to enlarge.

Until Later,

Saturday, July 18, 2009

When I woke up this morning I was hoping to see KC's own Tom Watson defend his 36 hole lead at the British Open but he hadn't teed off yet. No worries, Dad and I still enjoyed some gof (no L, that's how it's pronounced over there.). While I watched people other than Tiger play, Dad was busy cleaning my car seat which may or may not have been christened with a blow out last night. (Love you Dad!)

I had some sweet naps this afternoon and then headed over to grandma and grandpa herbert's to spend the night while mom and dad went to a KC explorers match (that's tennis, people) to watch the bryan brothers play. They sure love tennis--I wonder if they'll try to force me into it? I guess it'd be better than being a pageant kid.

Anyway, GpaH just got a new computer and I don't want to hog so I'll sign off.

Kiss Your Left Shoulder

I went to dinner with Grandma & Grandpa Davenport at Satera's where we met Aunt Darty & Uncle Dave. GpaD was cracking me up so when AD took this picture, I knew I had to steal her phone so I could send a short post. Thanks for babysitting tonight G&G D, I had SO much fun.

(Kiss your left shoulder to see the pic better. Sorry, can't edit much with a cell phone)

Until Later,

Borough Thoroughfares

Today has been crazy but VERY fun. I started off the morning with Grandma Davenport. She picked me up from our house and after we got settled at her house, GmaD took my Aunt Lily and me on a walk. The collage below has some action shots of AL.

You may be thinking that those pictures don't look very "actiony" or that "actiony" isn't a word and you'd be correct on both accounts. Dad didn't have any real action shots of AL but from what I here that's only because none exist. We REALLY need a picture of our walks or I'm sure some people would question if AL actually went (that's directed at you Uncle Dave.)

Regardless of what mean old UD thinks, we had a lot of fun on our walk and the weather could not have been more perfect. The average high this time of year is about 90 which is usually what the humidity is as well (UGH!) and yet today was in the seventies with low humidity and even a nice breeze. Hey bartender, I'll take another day like this one please! (we'll see how that's received because he usually only serves me bottles and I didn't see any weather on the menu.)

After the walk we did some relaxing; me in my bouncy chair and GmaD in a chair that didn't bounce (which frankly sounds pretty boring.) After a little practice kicking that green flower, I took a short nap before GmaD and I headed out and about.

GmaD had a birthday lunch (another birthday must mean she's 60 now right?) so she dropped me off over at Grandma Herbert's. Two Gma's in one day -- SWEET!

GmaD brought my stroller over to GmaH's so I was confident there was another walk in my future. I was so excited I almost felt like I was doing something wrong, like I should tell GmaH that I already went on a walk. But, I stayed tight lipped and sure enough that second walk came to fruition. GmaH and I did some of our other usual stuff as well. We did lots of singing of course (I've got surprising solid chops for a 3.5 month old)

"If I close my eyes
I can almost hear my mother
Callin' Neil, go find your brother
Daddy's home and it's time for supper
Hurry on

And I see two boys
Racing up two flights of staircase
Squirmin' into papa's embrace
And his whiskers warm on their face
Where's it gone
Oh where's it gone

Two floors above the butcher
First door on the right
Life filled to the brim
As I stood by my window
And looked out on those
Brooklyn Roads"

And we're back. Sorry about that, sometimes I just can't help myself and I have to bust out a tune. Let's see, where was I? Oh that's right, GmaH and I also did some reading. We read The Lady With The Alligator Purse, the moral of which I believe is don't drink your bath water and eat soap. Solid message there. Then GpaH came home and I was all smiles but before I knew it, they were packing me up and dropping me off at home.

Finally, some time to relax. Or at least that's what I thought. I started pounding out this post and I hear Dad say that I'm going BACK over the G&G D's tonight so they can babysit while M&D go downtown to see Aunt Abby's Trunk Show. Whatever M&D, I don't wanna sit at home with you anyway! So, I have to wrap up this post cause G&G D will be here soon to pick me up.

Fashion Nugget

I woke up just a bit early today so Dad and I could watch Breakfast at... Turnberry? That's right, there's another major sporting event in the UK this week. This time it's Golf's third major of the year, The Open Championship at Turnberry in Scotland. (sorry, couldn't resist that last link.) At Wimbledon, Bud Collins and his crazy outfits stand out against all the players wearing their "Tennis Whites" but Bud would fit right in with the players at The Open. Hey, I dig patterns and bold colors too so I was lovin' it.

Click collage to enlarge

Naturally, my favorite is John Daly there near the center in the green shirt and green and white argyle pants. However, you don't get the real feel for how crazy JD is without seeing this pic. PERFECT! Do you think they lost a bet or something? HA!

After breakfast, I headed over to Miss Anne's. I'm happy to say that I went to and came home from MA's in the same outfit. Hey, one day outta three will get you into the hall of fame!

After I got home it was time for some QT with Mom & Dad. Dad read me a book that claims Rhinos "Snort and Snuff" but I'm not really sure what "snuff" is. According to one of the definitions by Merriam-Webster it means to Kill. That's NOT cool Rhinos! Look how mad everyone looks. Those Rhinos better not mess with those dogs or I'll send my sisters over to Ruff them up. (I know, I'm terrible)

After the book I did some playing with mom but before I knew it, we were napping instead (that's me in the yellow.) Mom and I should know better than to fall asleep when Dad has the camera. Doh!

Well, I'm gonna have a bottle now then I'm probably off to bed. Something tells me I'll need my rest for tomorrow.

The World is Full of Stupid People

Miss Anne babysat me again today. I was really embarrassed after my diaper malfunction yesterday but Miss Anne said that's just part of being a baby and that made me feel better. I had a lot of fun today in the bouncy chair and playing with Logan. The weather wasn't nearly as miserable today as it was yesterday so in the afternoon we spent some nice time outside and were even out there when Mom came to pick me up.
Hey, that doesn't look like the outfit I was wearing when I left the house this morning. Oh yeah, I had another diaper malfunction. I wonder if there's a recall on those because they're clearly defective.

After we got home I got some kisses from my sister's and the Dad. Dad thought it might be fun to turn me upside down while I'm in my car seat and I'll be honest, it was really fun. Mom said it was like a roller coaster. Sweet!

After I took a little nap, Dad enlisted my help to put together our new grill. I knew he'd need my help because I heard Grandpa D tell the story about him and Uncle Dave putting G&G D's grill together. I guess it took a few hours because they kept on having to take it apart because they messed up. Dad and I did ours in about 20 minutes. There were only like 13 pieces and it came with a screw driver. Here's a picture of the Grill but the entertaining part is that page is actually a review of the grill by "disappointedgirl." Her review is at the very bottom in small print and it reads, "Not anywhere in the ad did it say it didnt come with a tank. Ive had it for 3 weeks and STILL havent used it. I cant find a place to buy a propane tank!" Hmm, she should check out this place. I mean, it's clear that the HD on Washington Street sells and exchanges propane tanks. I'll bet her headlight fluid is low too. (listen to audio below)

P.S. - Practically Sexagenarian

I went to Miss Anne's again today. When we got there, MA showed us the new bouncy chair she bought for me. Well, I guess it's for all the babies she baby sits but since I'm the only baby there, by the transitive property, it's for me. And MA sure has great taste too because it's the chair that matches my play gym which I LOVE! (See Below)

Have you ever heard the expression (or some variation), "I'm so excited I could just poop." Well, I resemble that comment. About fifteen minutes into the maiden voyage, my diaper experienced an engineering (or perhaps structural) failure which resulted in the chair needing a bath. Sorry Miss Anne!

In other big news (so punny) today is Grandma Davenport's 59th birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY GMAD! I spent quite a bit of time looking for the "genarian" word for one's fifties but while Google found Pentagenarian referenced on several webpages, Merriam Webster does not have an entry for it. Apparently M-W does not recognize "genarians" until the sixties. As an FYI, next up is septuagenarian then octogenarian, nonagenarian and centenarian. After that I think they just call you lucky.

Mom, Dad and I sure were lucky because we got to celebrate GmaD's birthday at a place called The Cheesecake Factory. (Sorry, Dad forgot the camera -- Fail) After we sat down, everyone read the menu which put me right to sleep. If you haven't seen that menu, it's so ridulously long that it HAS PAGE NUMBERS! Still, it was boring so I napped. Maybe M&D should have stolen one to read me to sleep at home. I must have sensed dinner was about to arrive because I told M&D that it was time for my bottle. They fed me (yes, it was a two person operation) while their salads got cold and--wait, salads are already cold. Oh, I don't feel bad now. Anyway, after I got done eating I went over to GmaD so I could play with her on her birthday. As a present, I gave her a coupon book good for free baby sitting whenever she wants. So, anytime she wants to take care of me, she can just redeem a coupon and M&D won't charge her. SWEET DEAL!

After dinner, we stopped over at Grandma & Grandpa Herbert's for a little while. I had a ton of fun with G&G H as they we were singing and making silly faces. And still, no camera. Although G&G H did take pictures and per GpaH, GmaH looked "funny" in one of them. I thought that comment was pretty funny but GmaH didn't so we did a retake. GpaH, so funny.

Then it was home for a bath (clean bean) and now I'm off to bed.

Until Later,

Random thought today - Did you know it's impossible to kiss your own elbow? I know, because I've been trying to put my entire arm in my mouth lately but my elbow has eluded me.

Kick It!

I'm still not at Miss Anne's on Monday's yet so Grandma Davenport baby sat me today. She had to go water her plants at work and I tagged along so I could see all of her work friends. (Hi to Ellie, Glenda and her husband Tony, Teri, Mary and Lesley!) While we were there GmaD caught me eye-spying the happy face ball in the pic above. She must have read my mind because she let me take it home. The ball appears to have a nice positive attitude and I like that.

Dad and Aunt Darty came over to GmaD's so we could all lunch together. TWIST, I had a bottle. While the others were eating, I spent some time in my Kick & Play bouncy chair. Today I practiced kicking the green flower on the right (stage right.) Below is a quick little video.

After I wore myself out kickin' it, I took a nice nap. Later in the afternoon we did some more playing including a nice little walk in my stroller.

After I got home, I did some awesome snuggling with Mom and Sister Penny. (Notice how Penny is holding my hand? Love her!)

Cha Cha Cha Changin'

After yesterday's busy afternoon and evening, I was glad that today was nice and relaxing. Dad slept in late with my sisters so it was just Mom and Me playing all morning. Shortly after Dad got up, he suggested that he and Mom ditch the kid (that's me) and go to a movie. They didn't even consider taking me to see Transformers though from what I hear, there were a bunch of kids there and a few of them were not much older than me. That's okay, I also got the impression that I definitely had way more fun over at Grandma Davenport's than M&D had at Transformers.

Aunt Darty came over to play with me as well and the three of us had so much fun. (Grandpa Davenport is still on vacation in South Florida with his Mom. I was gonna make fun of GpaD for going to South Florida in the middle of the summer but apparently it's no hotter there than it is here. Nice work Kansas?) Over at GmaD's, I spent a little time playing on my wiggle worm and some time in my bouncy chair though I can't link to it because I can't find it online. I wish I could find it so I could add it to my (four month) birthday list. It's awesome!

Other than that, I didn't do much today. And since I don't have any pictures to go with this post, I'll go ahead and post my "Calendar" pictures from the first.

Do I look any longer than I did last month?

Cornhusker IKEA

This morning had all the signs of a nice relaxing day. I had a bottle at seven, a three hour nap, a bottle at 10, lots of playing and a bottle at one. Then Mom and Dad got motivated and threw a wrench in our relaxing day. DOH! M&D packed up my stuff and me and we were off to the Legends.

M&D started with a late lunch at the Yard House but I found it to be a bit boring so I napped. Then we headed off to shop with stops at the Adidas Outlet and the Carter's outlet. Carter's is wall to wall, floor to ceiling baby clothes. I could spend hours in there shopping (is there a shopping gene?) but Dad rushed Mom and I in and out and all I got was seven new outfits. I know it sounds like a lot but five of the seven came on one hanger and as someone once said, "if you get the nachos stuck together, that's one nacho." In this analogy, the nacho is actually a... you know what, if I have to explain it to you, I want you close your browser and never visit my blog again.

After Carter's, we headed back to the car which unfortunatley couldn't have been much farther away. Of course, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that thanks to Dad's front row parking spot, once we made it to the correct end of the mall we didn't have any farther to go. Here's an action shot of us walking to the car.

I know what you're thinking, "really, a picture of the parking spot? Really?" (that second 'really' is just what you younger readers were thinking. You older readers weren't thinking that... but you probably already knew that.) I thought the same thing (with the second 'really') but Dad started blabbering on about some front row parking gene he passed on to me so I thought I'd give him a shout out here. Happy Dad?

Next stop was to someplace called Nebraska Furniture Mart. That place is huge! We were there shopping for a new dish washer which I put up with for a little while but then I got hungry and had a bottle at Chez NFM. I was such a good girl that Dad rewarded me by taking me to see the fancy TVs. Dad and I had our eyes on this one but that was until we saw a projector aimed at a 108" fixed frame screen. We actually had to sit down to take in the view. After watching the new Transformers trailer (sweet!), it was finally time to go home.

After I got my 9:00 bottle, Mom read me a book called US Weekly which I guess is about people who are "Just like US." It wasn't necessarily like my other books but it wasn't bad.

Now I'm exhausted so I'm off to bed.

Where are my Cliff's Notes?

Yesterday I was back at Miss Anne's during the day. Dad sent me over there in pajamas with full legs and long sleeves. Hello? It's a little warm for pajamas in the middle of the day isn't it Dad? Also, aren't pajamas kind of the easy way out? Seems a bit lazy of you not to pick out a real outfit. I'm just sayin'. I still had a lot of fun at Miss Anne's (even though when we went outside, she had to fan me so I wouldn't get too hot. Okay, dead horse sufficiently beaten.)

After Mom picked me up, we went home and saw Dad for just a minute before he left to play cards. That's okay though, that just meant Mom and I had a girls night. And there were a lot of girls too. We actually met several of Mom's friends at Spin for book club. The book we discussed was The Fig Eater by Jody Shields. The book "casts a stabbing, furtive light on Vienna at the time of la belle époque. Like the sweep of an electric torch probing a darkened room, Judy's descriptive prose illuminates the often disquieting nooks and crannies behind the façade of turn-of-the-century Viennese civility." While the same cannot be said of Moo, Baa, La La La I still thought it the more entertaining read. (Notice the reviewer referred to the author as Judy rather than Jody. Oops!)

Today I went back to Miss Anne's but this time I was wearing this cute little polka-dot dress. Much more appropriate garb to spend time outside.

After school, Mom, Dad and I ran a few errands including a trip to the post office so Mom could mail out a Paper Mill Designs job. How cute are these? They're letterpressed and there were three different items: an address book, a note book and note cards. Fun right?

Well, it's been a pretty relaxing couple of days so bring on the weekend!

Title Tracks

I don't know if you guys have noticed it or not but music has been a big part of this blog. Several of the posts have titles that are actually song titles or lyrics.

"It's My Birthday too, Yeah" are lyrics from The Beatles's track Birthday (White Album)
Shattered is by the Rolling Stones
The Gambler is by Kenny Rogers
Voulez-Vous is by ABBA
Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head is by B.J. Thomas
Sweet Talk is by The Killers
Footloose is by Kenny Loggins
Can't You Smell That Smell are lyrics from Lynyrd Skynyrd's track That Smell
Mark Me Absent is by The Clash
REM is obviously a band

There's not really a point here other than the fact that I think titles are actually the hardest part of writing a blog post. I know it seems silly but I always want them to be fun and relate to the post's topic and that can be tough so I'm thrilled when I can scroll through Dad's iPod (or Amazon) to help me out.

Estate of Mind

Today was Miss Anne's last day of vacation so Grandma Herbert took care of me today. Dad dropped me off at G&G H's and after GmaH and I got settled in she took me on a walk in my stroller. Two walks in two days is pretty sweet (and rare - shame on you Mom & Dad.) And it's my understanding that we need to take advantage of this weather because it's about to start feeling like July in Kansas City. Odd eh?

GmaH and I met Mom and Aunt Abby for lunch at First Watch. Having lunch with Mom was a rare surprise and totally awesome. For lunch, I considered having two poached eggs and toast with no butter but instead decided to have a bottle. Maybe next time.

On the way home, GmaH, AA and I stopped at an estate sale in a fancy neighborhood near 89th and Mission. We saw some good stuff (see pics 102 & 103) and some not so good stuff including some white elbow length leather gloves (yikes.) AA did end up buying some vintage fabric which I can only assume would be used to make vintage clothing right?

After we got back to G&G H's, AA put me to work in her sweatshop as we prepared for her Fringe Festival Trunk Show.

Later on, I did some singing with GmaH including one of her favorites, "Avery, Avery, Avery is a good girl." After singing we watched Enchanted which also has a lot of singing. Look at me; so musical!

Then GpaH came home from work (yea!) and we read Hop Like a Bunny; Dance like a Bear THREE times!

After Mom came and picked me up, it was a short stop home for a bottle then Dad whisked me away to dinner at Zarda with Grandma Davenport, Aunt Darty and Uncle Dave. It was kids it free night so Dad caught a break on the bill thanks to me... also I don't eat barbecue (yet) so I guess that helped too. For the most part it was fun but I'm pretty sure UD told a story I had already heard. Classic Uncle Dave.

Finally it was home for the evening where I took a little nap, had bottle a bath and am off to bed. So tired!

Sixth Sense

Miss Anne is still on vacation so this morning Grandma Davenport came to pick me up so she could babysit. We took the stroller with us because let's be honest, Dad probably won't use it at home without me. After we got back to G&G D's and got settled, Mom took Aunt Lily and Me on a walk. (Thanks GmaD!)

A little later, we packed into the car along with GpaD, Great Grandma D and (great) Aunt Nancy. SUPRISE, we're off to KCI again! This made it my second trip in seven days to the Kansas City International airport. (That makes it sound a lot more official and impressive than it appeared to be.) On the way there we made a pit stop at Mimi's Cafe for lunch. Apparently GpaD has some sort of disorder that makes him all crazy and anxious when it comes to airports because he was fidgety and worried the entire time. We left lunch in a whirlwind and before I knew it, we were dropping GGD and GpaD off at the curb. Apparently GpaD is going to spend a week or so down in Florida with GGD. MUST BE NICE! Also, no need to fear, I counted all my toes before GGD got out of the car.

On the way home from the airport, we stopped at Houlihan's to have a second lunch, this time with Dad. I got to sit next to Dad at lunch and I thought that was a pretty special treat so I gave him some smiles.

After lunch, GmaD and I went back to relax a bit after our busy morning. No rest for the weary though because before I knew it, Dad was over to pick me up. After a quick stop at Home Depot to pick up a new grill, we went home to see Mom and my sisters. YEA! Shortly after we got home, Mom and I read my brand new "book of the month" book, Moo, Baa, La La La. I don't want to spoil it for you but as it turns out pigs don't say La, La, La, they say oink, oink. TWIST! Next we read Ten Little Ladybugs which always scares me because I feel like the ladybugs are being eaten. I know, I know, the ladybugs all appear again at the end but I fear they may be ladybug ghosts. "I see dead (ladybugs)... walking around like regular (ladybugs.)" AHHHHHH!

That was enough book time though because I was very excited to try MY NEW SWING. It's AWESOME!

New to Red, White and Blue

This was my first 4th of July holiday and the key word there, is holiday. I chose to take a holiday from writing my blog, so sue me. Unfortunately, that leaves me with like four days worth of blogs to write. Oy Vay (that's right, I know a little yiddish.)

Okay, let's start with the third of July. It was cool and rainy in the morning so Mom and I just snuggled with my sisters. Dad was out golfing, which with the rain kept Dad away for over seven hours. GIRLS ONLY MORNING!

In the afternoon, we went over to G&G Davenport's for a 3rd of July BBQ with the Kaczmarczyks. I hadn't seen a lot of the K's for a while and there was even a new K for me to meet; cousin Jeff's Wife Emily.

Uncle Jeff and Aunt Emily live in Dallas and came up to celebrate the holiday with the rest of the fam. Here are a few other pics from the par-tay.

On Saturday, we watched the Williams sisters play for the Ladies' Championship at Wimbledon. I like Venus better but she fell apart during the first set tie breaker and lost to her sister Serena. (If you haven't figured out by now, I'm a bit of a tennis fan. M&D even got me a racquet so Grandpa Herbert could teach me how to play. I can't wait to use my SpongeBob SquarePants racquet as soon as I can walk.)

Saturday night we watched fireworks... from the family room. M&D thought it may be best not to expose my little ears to a lot of loud bangs (even though I'm really good around loud noises) so we watched Live fireworks from New York and Boston. Verdict: Fireworks are totally sweet.

We spent all Sunday morning (and early afternoon) watching Andy Roddick and Roger Federer play in the Gentleman's Championship at Wimbledon. Even though AR won 39 games and RF won 36, RF won the match overall, winning the fifth set 16-14. They set records for the longest Men's Grand Slam final (77 games) and the longest fifth set of a Men's Grand Slam final (20 games.) It was an epic match for sure and while it gave Federer his record breaking 15th major victory, we were still heart broken to see Andy lose. As a consolation, M&D are gonna invite him to their Halloween (whatever that is) party. I'm sure that will make up for everything.

The other big news from Sunday was that my swing broke. Dad replaced the batteries (twice) and still nothing happened. This is especially problematic because there are some times when all I want to do is play in my swing and when it's not working, I'm not happy. Good news, Babies R Us took the swing back tonight and we picked up a new one. This new swing looks like it's awesome. It's got several different positions, speeds, has an MP3 jack and even plugs in (bye-bye D Cell Batteries!) I'm really looking forward to some QT with the new swing.

Other than the trip to Babies R Us, I spent my day with GmaD because Miss Anne is on Vacation. For lunch, we went to Nordstrom Cafe with Great Grandma Davenport, Aunt Darty, Uncle Dave, (great) Aunt Nancy, Uncle Tim and Aunt Kelly. (btw, if you haven't already, be sure to click on the last mini pic of UT and me above. Deer in the Headlights anyone?) Lunch was a blast but after lunch I got to chill out with GmaD all afternoon. We passed the time playing, napping and reading (Five Silly Monkeys.)

Phew, that was exhausting.
