Da Bears

Mom and Dad don't seem to understand that I am not keen on "solid food." I have it in quotes because I was thinking cheeseburger and what I'm getting is a solution of nutrients in a state suitable for absorption. It's as delicious as it sounds which is why I keep spitting it out. STOP TRYING TO FEED ME THIS STUFF!

Today at Miss Anne's there was a birthday party for Jill so everyone had cup cakes... except me. But, at least I got a bottle instead of pabulum. Jill was celebrating her 72 month birthday but everyone kept referring to it as her 6th. What's up with that?

After work, Mom came and picked me up and we went over to Grandma & Grandpa Herbert's. While we were there, Mom read me a new book called The Berenstain Bears' New Baby by Stan & Jan Berenstain (check it out on my bookshelf at the bottom of this blog.) Stan & Jan? Really? Marrying someone whose name rhymes with yours is like naming your kid Richard Richardson; it's just wrong. I would think with the main characters being bears, that it would be punny if it were the Bearenstain Bears but nope, the authors kept the spelling the same as their name. How very monochromatic.

I'm a little surprised that the Berenstains jump right into New Baby without making The Birds, The Bees, And The Berenstain Bears a prerequisite. Though in New Baby, it's the girl that's being born whereas in Birds & Bees it's the little girl that's curious and gets an explanation from Mama Bear and Dr. Gert.

Actually, the Berenstains have covered some pretty heavy topics in their 90 or so books. In Lose a Friend the kids have to deal with death and in The Big Question the kids learn about God. Other things the kids learn about are Praying, Sunday School, The Golden Rule, Greed, Lying and Jealousy. I assume The Berenstain Bears: My Friend Has Two Daddys is right around the corner. It's not all that heavy though, The Bears also cover going to the Doctor, the Dentist, Camp and Strangers. Where's The Fable? Apparently it's in Bear Country.

Until Later,
Avery
