Whale of Time

On Sunday Mom, Dad & I headed over to Grandma & Grandpa Herbert's for brunch and family pictures. In our classic family style, we were thirty minutes late but for good reason -- We were enjoying Mom's new found fame. Paper Mill Designs was one of five local businesses featured in Sunday's Kansas City Star as offering unique holiday gift ideas. Check out the article here. VERY EXCITING!

Over at G&G H's I did a lot playing and frankly M&D pushed their luck by not giving me time for a morning nap. I was getting close actually so Mom and I watched GpaH play a little piano to pass the time. She knows how I love the piano and I was super attentive right up until Sarah of Sarah Maxey Photography arrived for our photo session. Despite it being a little chilly, my favorite part was getting to go outside for a few quick poses. I can't WAIT to see the pictures!

In the mean time, here are some pics that M&D snapped of our little branch of the family tree. How cute is my outfit???

After we got home, I (and my father) took a wicked sweet four hour nap. After I got up, I did some seriously solid playing and did so in my fancy outfit. Hey, I may not get a chance to wear it again so I want to get plenty of use out of it.

This morning Dad asked me to entertain myself while he got my bag ready for Miss Anne's. Penny came to see what I was doing - though come to think of it, she may have just been interested in the bunnies on my feet!

After school, I had another make-up swim lesson and after last week's performance, I was under a lot of pressure to perform. I did pretty well this time as well; like 98% crying free. One of the times was right after my lone dunk but it was only because I was caught off guard. The second time was when I took a header while on the whale floaty. Dad snapped a pic with his camera phone which leaves a lot to be desired but you may get the gist.

That about wraps up my day. I'll leave you with a pic of me playing as Parker "guards" me.

Nobody Rides For Free

So due to the Thanksgiving holiday I have fallen pretty far behind on my posts. And due to said holiday it was a particularly picture heavy span of days so I'm sure you'll all be disappointed that you're in for another P-LOG! None the less, I reserve the right to make an attempt at witty banter with each pic. It's Good To Be The Blogger!

As I mentioned in the last post, Mom & Dad failed to take ANY pictures at Nick & Jakes Monday night so here are three pics that I stole from Great Aunt Suzi. (Since I have so many great aunts and uncles, going forward they will be referred to as Graunts and Gruncles. Brevity is King!) Click to enlarge.

On Wednesday I had swim lessons at our regular time. I'm not sure if it was because we went on Monday so it was familiar or if it was because the pool was so much quieter than normal but I actually kind of had fun. I did not cry THE ENTIRE LESSON! And Miss Mary even pressed her luck by DUNKING ME three times; still no tears. Grandma Davenport and GAS came to watch so maybe it was because I had an audience but whatever the reason, I totally rocked swim lessons! BRING IT POOL! Scope this wicked sweet action shot!

After swim lessons we went over to Grandma & Grandma Herbert's. Onesie: So Topical!
Return of PinkBeary!

For Thanksgiving M&D and I headed over to G&G D where GAS & GUD (aren't acronyms fabulous!) and Uncle Tim were already prepping for dinner and/or watching football. We were later jointed by Aunt Darty, Uncle Dave and Greats Aunt Nancy, Uncle John and Uncle Frank (GAN, GUJ & GUF; LOVING IT!)

GAS and I played the Rorschach Game where I just mirrored whatever she did... to a point of course...

Guess which one of these turkey dinners is mine! Jealous?!?!

After the Davenports' we headed over the Herberts' for round two! There we played with Aunt Abby, Uncle Scoot [sic] Uncle Charlie, Aunt Eva, Cousin Jamie and of course G&G H.

On Friday morning we had breakfast with GAS & GUD (seriously, I giggle every time I type it!)
While Dad went golfing, Mom and I head up to Crown Center with G&G H, AA, AE, UC & CJ. We waited in line to see Santa for approximately a million years before we gave up but we still got to do some 'splorin.' This place was equal parts fascinating and frightening.

Today was capped off with a trip to Jack Stack! Delicious... probably...

Prodigious Saliva Production

Yesterday may have started out like most others but it finished with a bang. After Mom and I got home, we only had a short time to get ready before we were off to swim lessons. "What's that," you say, "I thought swim lessons were on Wednesdays." Well, you're right but Monday was a make up day for a lesson that was cancelled a few weeks back. And as Miss Mary promised, it's getting a bit more tolerable with each lesson. I was a bit upset in the beginning but then Mom let me chill on my back with my head resting on her shoulder as she supported the rest of me in her arms. I guess this is called the back stroke? It was totally easy and if this is swimming, I'M IN! If I could incorporate some sort of cup holder for a beverage-my bottle of course-it would be the perfect set up. Hmm, I may have to look into that....

After swim lessons, we met the fam for dinner at Nick & Jake's but I was in for a surprise - Greats Uncle Dale & Aunt Suzi came to town for Thanksgiving! Sweet! AS was trying to take some pictures of me so I decided to play a game where I did my best NOT to smile. I thought being stingy with the smiles was pretty funny... which really only made it even harder not to smile! I know a lot of pictures were taken but apparently not by M&D because their camera had zippo to offer. BOOOO!

After school today I did a LOT of playing. In Dad's office, in M&D's room and a lot of time in my gym with approximately all my toys.
My favorite game right now is to throw all of my toys outside of my gym which means either M&D have to pick them or I get to go on safari looking for them. Unfortunately I can't go far just yet so I kinda just hang from the gym.

For dinner, we went to the Herford House for Grandma & Grandpa Davenports Anniversary. I think they've been married for like a hundred years or something! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Aside from G&G D and M&D, I also got to play with Great Aunt Nancy, Aunt Darty & Uncle Dave.
While I was playing with AN, I tried to peruse the HH menu because I was pretty sure it would just be something like this old picture to the right but as it turns out is just a bunch of words. Boring! I mean, you'd have to be some kind of schmuck (learned that at swim lessons) to get anything but cow at the HH. To that end, UD got chicken. Where's the fable???

On the way to and from HH, M&D decided to take the cold weather seriously and forced me into a new hat. See if you can guess how I feel about it.

I have a couple of other pics from tonight but not surprisingly they're either blurry or involve closed eyes. Boo!

I'm gonna start with a picture from the middle of last week. Since it was a little chilly out, Mom bundled me up in this cute get up for transport to and fro swim lessons. I know Mom has just been itchin' for an excuse to dress me up in this and I guess swim lessons are as good a reason as any.

On Friday, Mom & Dad both had the day off so I figured I was in for some fun. For lunch, we met Grandma Davenport for Lunch at Granite City. I was totally expecting to see Aunt Darty there as well but I guess she had a better offer. Where's the fable?

After lunch, I had a short break before Dad and I headed to my appt with Doctor Shanker. I've had the sniffles for like five weeks now so we thought it was a good time for another check up... and I had a BLAST! Last week, Mom let me play with a tissue and I had quite a bit of fun tearing it to shreds. Then we get to the doctor's office and the table is covered with a bunch of tissue paper and I went to TOWN on that stuff. If Dad hadn't torn it from the roll, I'd have pulled it all out and it would have been glorious! Dad thought it was pretty entertaining so he took a quick little video with the "still" camera.

Dr. Shanker checked me out and everything looked okay so he ordered some blood work. I could tell that Dad feared the worst so I knew I had to be a big girl, at least for the immediate future. Dad sat me down on his lap and the nurse pricked me finger and kept squeezing and squeezing until she had all the blood she needed. Even the nurse was impressed with how well I took it. I considered throwing Dad under the bus and telling the nurse that I'm used to Dad butchering my fingers so this was nothing. I did get a Barbie band-aid as a consolation prize and despite my best efforts, I couldn't get it off in my mouth. Boo! While we waited for the results of the blood test, Dad let me play with the table tissue some more. Sweet.
When Dr. Shanker came back in, he informed us that all of the blood tests looked normal so he prescribed some more tests but this time we had to go to Children's Mercy hospital. Hmmm, that's kind of ominous. But it was just for a chest X-Ray and some nasal swabs (both of which I hated) but it wasn't scary or anything. We're supposed to get the test results back soon so I'll keep you all posted. It's probably just a lot of effort to confirm that I have a stubborn cold!

This morning I had lunch with Dad, GmaD, AD and Uncle Dave at First Watch (Mom had another show to work.) I totally love being able to sit in a high chair at the table. It makes me feel more like a part of the group that way.
After lunch, Dad and I head to Babies R Us for some torture. It was totally worth it though. I got several new toys (Dad is such a sucker!) After an afternoon nap, I've spent the majority of the evening playing with Mom and my new toys. Good end to this weekend!

Honest to Blog

Juno just started so there's a fair chance I'm just going to pop some one liners into the middle of this post. Good luck reading this mess.

On Saturday, Mom had an appointment with a Paper Mill Designs client so Dad and I dawned our Kansas State University Football garb and headed over Grandma & Grandpa Davenport's house to watch the Cats take on MU. "I just drank my weight in SunnyD." The game was being shown on the Vs network but "Unfortunately, Versus is no longer available on DIRECTV. Comcast, the largest cable company in the U.S. and [DIRECTV's] largest competitor, owns the channel and has forced [them] to pull it down." Boo! Now, I totally love G&G D and all but they 86'd they're basement furniture in prep for new basement furniture so we had to watch the game on the small tv. Booo. "It's probably just a food baby. Did you have a big lunch?"

I mentioned before that Dad and I got all decked out in the purple and the white but while I wore the same outfit as I did when KSU beat KU, Dad decided to go with a different shirt. This had me worried. Why would he test fate like that. As some of you may know, KSU lost to MU and I blame Dad for bucking the system. Boo!
"You definitely bring something to the table."

"Thanks a heap Coyote Ugly. This cactus-gram stings even worse than your abandonment." On Saturday night, I was supposed to go back over to G&G D's so M&D could go to Aunt Abby's fashion show. However, they were both not feeling well so all three of us stayed home. "All babies want to get borned!" And that was nice too.

On Sunday, I got up early with Dad but Mom relieved him after about an hour and he went back to bed for, like, ever. That's cool though, I played with Mom and my sisters for a while then I took a nap myself. I LOVE naps. Dad woke up just in time to go to the Opera with GmaD, AA, Grandma Herbert & Grandpa Herbert. "It's breakfast for supper - it's your favorite." Mom was still a little worried she might get sick so she stayed home to babysit me. I'm sure GpaD breathed a sigh of relief since he was on deck to babysit if Mom were to go with them.

Today was pretty chill. I went to bed REALLY early Sunday night which made for a REALLY early Monday morning. I woke Mom up at about 5:00am this morn. "That was once and she did not die if you recall." Fortunately for all involved I took a bottle and went right back to bed. "I don't really know what kind of girl I am."

Tonight's highlight was a partial family photo for Dad to take with him to Denver. We'll miss you Dad!

I have SO many pictures from today that I'm just gonna post a Picture bLOG. Click any picture to enlarge.

This is me playing with my fancy stackable rings this morning while Dad got ready.

I played with Grandma Herbert today and when Donna Lane heard I was in the neighborhood, she rushed right over.

Playing with Mom after work.

They gave me some tulle to play with....
That stuff is so frustrating...

And NOT very good for peek-a-boo...

Got a new book of the month book. Wrapping paper is delicious.

I offered some to Penny but she declined. MORE FOR ME!

M&D tried to use the book as "bait" to get me to crawl. Unsuccessful. Why do they WANT me mobile anyway? HUGE mistake. As soon as I do start crawling (or walking, which ever comes first) the most used phrase in our house will become, "Where's Avery?"
