Happy Fun Ball

On the evening of the 14th, Mom had a Paper Mill Designs client meeting so Dad and I were on our own for dinner. As it happened, Grandma Davenport was busy too so we decided to have dinner with Grandpa Davenport. I was a little fussy after school so Dad decided to hedge his bets with dinner at at Red Robin - Yum!
Dad likes to go to RR because he knows there's so much going on that it leaves less entertaining (read 'parenting') for him to do. And frankly he's spot on. There are always a ton of kids there which of course fascinates me and on this particular visit three of them had their birthday. Unfortunately for the RR staff, this meant three rounds of singing Happy Birthday.
They sang HB to all three of them within ten minutes of one another. Geesh, no wonder I couldn't get any more ranch for my fries. Our poor waiter was stuck singing which meant I was left wanting. BOO!

When we got home, I played with my balloon for about 12 seconds before it hit the ceiling. Stupid helium, I hope we DO run out.
No worries though, I had plenty to keep me busy.
At one point, we even went outside to play with the new ball M&D got me at Kansas Sampler. This ball cracks me up because every time I drop it, it bounces and wobbles in all different directions. Football? Try FUN BALL! (is that too hacky?)

Here's Blogger's "Blog of Note" for September 30th, 2010. I'm not really sure what it's about - I lost interest pretty quickly. I think she's a flight attendant or something, I don't know. I thought the most note worthy item on it was her ridiculously long list of "labels" in the margin. There are 194. ONE HUNDRED NINETY FOUR!! I personally don't do labels because I don't really know how they help but if I did do labels, I'd probably do them a lot better... or at least have a lot fewer... like zero.

Remember, you can't take it with you, but you can lick it so no one else can take it when you're gone.

A Day at the Spa

On the evening of the 12th, Grandma and Grandpa Davenport stopped by to say hi. As it turned out, GmaD had been shopping (SHOCK!) and picked up a few things for me (double SHOCK!)
This girls name is Tippy Toad (so punny!) and she's my new back pack. As I've mentioned, I love bags and boxes and bins (oh my) so Tippy Toad is right up my ally. G&G D stayed and played with me for a little while and I got to show GmaD how to play the guitar and she showed me how to properly hold Emma Darcy.
Just before G&G D took off, GpaD decided to make a donation to my ball pit college fund which I promptly handed over to Dad for safe keeping. Thanks GpaD!
THANKS GPAD!
After G&G D took off, I was back to my usual rounds. As you know, I like to mimic behavior and one of my faves is "spa" where I pretend to cut M&D's nails. M&D play along but they always seem a little skittish and gun shy. Come on here people, I'm a professional!

In a throwback to my idea of one picture per day, here's the one for the 13th. Of course, it's the only picture I have but that's certainly not a reflection of fun.
M&D went to the Royals and Chiefs (hence the garb) games so GmaD picked me up from Miss Anne's and played with me all night. She even went to work late the next day so she could take me to MA's. Thanks GmaD!

Here's Blogger's "Blog of Note" for September 29th, 2010. It's okay I guess. The red couch in in the header picture is pretty sweet. Also, she like puns but seriously, who doesn't.

See Red

I'm so far behind that I'm considering choosing one picture that best represents each day and posting it along with a short blurb so I can catch up a lot faster.

On the evening of the 9th, Mom and Dad both had something going on and I wasn't invited to go with either of them. Geesh! Fortunately Grandma Davenport volunteered to take care of me. And as you can see, for dinner I got PB&J -- NO CRUST! Now that's what I'm talkin' about!

Dude, this one pic per day thing is gonna be kosher!

The 10th was a Friday and I spent the day with Grandma Herbert. She made plans for us to go to the library behind Town Center... and she took pictures. Uh oh, I'm beginning to see a problem with my one pic per day plan. Oh well, it was good while it lasted.
Is it just me or does that kid in the middle appear to be looking at something different than the big kid and me?
I want to take a moment to point out that I was participating in "Red Friday" in support of the Chiefs season opener on the 13th. And I checked, no where in the rules to RF does it state your shirt can't have a bunny on it.

(Update: I found a few old pictures on Dad's phone (when he wasn't looking) and they were of dinner with Grandpa Davenport, Aunt Darcy & Uncle Dave at Salty Iguana. And yes, that's some sort of Hot Dog Taquito)

When I got home, I did a little bit of playing but then my kid (Emma Darcy) woke up and I had to take care of her. Ugh.
I'm at the point where I mimic a lot of what M&D do and I want you to take a moment to notice how I'm holding ED. I'm just sayin'....

On Saturday the 11th Mom, Dad and I had breakfast at First Watch Shoppes at Corporate Woods with the Bakers, G&G H. K-State also had its second football game so I was rockin' my new cheer leader outfit (thanks Aunt Darcy & Uncle Dave!) It was kind of funny too because there were three other little girls in KSU cheer gear (wait, did I just coin a phrase?) but I think my outfit was the cutest. (also, I just checked and www.cheergear.com is available - $$$$)
After breakfast, GmaH and I played a little Ring Around the Rosy. As per usual, I gave it 110% but I felt like GmaH kind of "phoned in" the We All Fall Down part.

After half of us "fell down" we headed home to play with my sisters and watch a little KSU football -- but of course they don't air games when you play Missouri State so I had to make do.
Who me?
You may be surprised to know that M&D did not support my decision to climb on the ottoman and play with book shelf knick-knacks. But what do you expect when you leave the ottoman in a place that facilitates me reaching items that certainly LOOK like toys. I'm innocent I tell ya.

Here isn't Blogger's "Blog of Note" for September 28th, 2010. I didn't link to this one because it's a cartoon strip (good) but it contains foul language (bad.) And I've got news for you: foul language does not make it funny. I'm not sure what would make it funny but it certainly isn't foul language. If you have to use foul language to be funny, you're just not trying hard enough. Also, you may just not be funny. If you're so bored you want to check it out anyway, you can google Stuff No One Told Me.

Since today's BoN was inappropriate, I thought I'd check out the BoN for 9/27 but it's titled Foster Dogs in New York City and I have a feeling it's probably not funny either. And on the likely chance it's outright sad, I didn't even check it out.

Remember, you can't take it with you, but you can lick it so no one else can take it when you're gone.

Camaraderie Is Awesome

September 8th was pretty awesome but only AFTER Mom got me out of this awful outfit. Can you believe he sent me over to Miss Anne's in this? I was so embarrassed. What's Dad's thought here? The pants have red and the shirt has read so that means they match? Brutal.

I recently came across this Cabbage Patch kid as I was exploring and I've decided to adopt her. I never realized how much work having a kid would be. It can be so frustrating I could just.... UGH!

I got a break from babysitting that night though because Mom and Dad planned a play date for me with David & Margot Fair. SWEET! When we got over there, D&M were just getting up from a little nap. I felt bad for waking them up but we had playing to do.
One of the cool parts about playing over at someone else's house is playing with all the toys I don't have.
And yes, that's a BALL PIT! I was a little suspect of it but David volunteered to show me how it works. You'd think it's pretty self explanatory but it's not. Like, when the floor is covered with balls, where do you stand? Yeah, you didn't think of that did you?
Even with David's demo, I wasn't convinced so Margot decided to get in to.
I took a closer look but still wasn't sure how they were pulling it off. When I play credenza Fort for instance, sometimes I have to take things out just to get in but there were like a million balls in this fort.
The ball pit wasn't the only totally awesome toy D&M have. They have this mini slide that is PERFECT for kids our size. And as David is demonstrating below, it's was as much fun to walk UP the slide as it was to go down the slide.
Although, I was it doing with shoes on and David was pulling it off in socks. It was pretty impressive and also kind of looked like more fun.

I still wasn't too sure how the ball pit worked but Mom got a little impatient and popped me in through the hole in the top. You can't tell from this picture but I am MAD and didn't stay in there long.
Side note - David had an awesome shirt on: computer, zoom in and enhance.
CIA Future Agent? Whoa, this kid is for realz y'all. You see, D&M have an aunt in the CIA and -- uh oh, wait, I don't think you have the correct security clearance.

At one point Margot decided to take a break from ball pit and slide and headed back to their room to read a book. Mom and I went in to let her know dinner was ready so we all headed into the kitchen... where the Fairs have three high chairs for their two kids... HOW FORTUITOUS!

After dinner D&M broke out ANOTHER cool toy: this collapsible tunnel type thing... which I also avoided.

As the night wore on, I got more and more curious about the ball pit.
And eventually walked in on my own... holding Dad's hand.
And I still hated it.

I found this next set of pictures pretty entertaining. Margot was reading a book and David decided it looked pretty good... and took it. I told Margot the two of us could take him on but she said it was fine. She's a better kid than I!
Right before we left, D&M were getting ready for bed and David showed off one of his new diapers... that look like jean shorts. Hey, that's working smarter, not harder!

I took one last trip down the slide and then it was time for us to head out. I had SO MUCH FUN and can't wait for D&M to come over to my house next time. I'll have my people call your people!

Here's Blogger's "Blog of Note" for this past Friday, September 24th, 2010. It's called Throw Grammar from the Train. I think he just points out grammatical errors other people made which is a bit bizarre (wait, is there supposed to be a comma in there?) However, I do think his blog title is pretty punny.

Remember, you can't take it with you, but you can lick it so no one else can take it when you're gone.
