Grandmas Make Me Happy

On Wednesday the 17th Dad had to run to the Apple store and I BEGGED him to let me go with. He agreed so Mom decided to join us as well. It was raining when we got there though and since Dad just had to run in and out, Mom and I didn't even get out of the car. No iPad playing for me. Boo!
Since we were in the neighborhood we decided to have dinner at Cactus Grill. HELLO SALSA! As you can see above, M&D forgot to pack a sippie cup for me so I got to use a straw - Sweet. As I've mentioned before, I love using straws but I keep forgetting that I don't have to tilt the cup like I do with a sippie and I often end up soaked. Still, straws are fun.

For the second Friday in row, I spent the day over at Grandma Herbert's. We hung out around the house for the most part. GmaH set me up with front row seats for a little recital. I usually like to play too but GmaH is a little better than me so sometimes I like to just watch.

I know girls are supposed to play with dolls, and I do, but I get to play with a lot of Logan's cars and trucks and I really like those too. This particular item is a tractor - and yes, I assume it's 25 years old.

When Grandpa Herbert got home I asked if he'd read me Little Fish's Sea Adventure and he was nice enough to oblige. Aren't Grandpas awesome!?!

When Mom came over to pick me up, I asked her to take a picture of me with G&G H. I know what you're thinking: Finally, some pictures of Avery. Right? But before we left I did some exploring and found what I assume is the closest thing to an iPad in the whole house. So what if the screen is a little smaller, it has like 25 buttons and I LOVE buttons.

Mom and I went home after G&G H's but we weren't there for long. We had dinner plans with Aunt Darcy and Great Grandma Davenport. What the wha? GGD was the first of the extended Davenport family to fly in for Thanksgiving. Sweet!
I find it really entertaining when we eat with people we normally don't. I can get away with just about anything when M&D are trying to keep me quiet and well behaved. I mean, cookies before dinner? M&D voluntarily getting me out of my high chair before we were ready to leave? Love it!

That's Not My Puppy

Mom & Dad were still feeling pretty lousy on Sunday the 14th so we didn't do much but chill at the house. In the pic above I'm reading one of my recent faves, That's Not My Puppy. It's a little confusing though because page four (below) really looks a lot more like one of my puppies than the last page does.

Not surprisingly, neither Mom nor Dad felt like cooking dinner so they ordered some pizza. Normally I like to tackle a slice in a slightly unconventional manner but M&D thought I might do better with a fork instead. BOO!

After dinner Mom helped me read That's Not My Puppy to my baby, Emma Darcy. You can see that I'm helping ED feel fake Parker's ears. I don't know if you know this, but babies like tactile interaction. Also, three generations, so cute!

Oh Snap! (Zipper, Tie & Button)

I spent Friday the 12th with Grandma Herbert which meant I had a blast. I don't think you've seen this baby of mine (I have a lot of babies) but this is another 25 year old toy that I love (despite the red hair.) This is the baby I sleep with when I'm over at G&G H's and as you can see it helps me practice the skills necessary to get out of my clothes, likely when M&D want me to stay IN my clothes.
GmaH and I were having a fun but then something curious happened... M&D showed up at 3:15. That's never good for me and as you can see, I was pretty skeptical.
Since I wasn't feeling well at the beginning of the week, M&D rushed me to the doctor's office six days later.
I don't love the doctor's office but I was able to hold off on crying until I got weighed where I proceeded to freak out. I continued to cry all through the examination but Dr. Shanker was able to determine I just had a cold. Awesome?

Saturday was really chill but mostly because M&D had started feeling like I felt the week before. We watched the Wildcats lose to Mizzou (is that a word?) which was kind of a bummer but it was at MU so we'll blame it on home field advantage... and maybe a significant difference is overall talent... maybe.
Mom tried to get a little work done in the afternoon and I begged and pleaded long enough that she eventually gave in and let me "help."
Dad had plans with Grandpa Davenport that night so when GpaD came to pick him up, he came in to play for a few minutes first.
In classic GpaD style, before he left he managed to make a donation to my treehouse college fund.

Aunt Abby came by around just before GpaD but the camera battery must have been dead or something because there aren't any pictures. BOO! I'm sure AA and I had a blast even though there's no official record of it... MOM!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I'm out of order on my dates but wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! I'm thankful I got to enjoy two big meals today--brunch with Grandma and Grandpa Herbert and Aunt Abby and Uncle Scoot (sic) and then dinner with...

Grandma and Grandpa Davenport, Uncle Dave, Aunt Darcy, Great Grandma Martha, Great Aunt Nancy, Great Uncle John, Great Uncle Frank, Great Uncle Todd, Great Aunt Dominique, Uncle Tim, Aunt Kelly, Uncle Scott, Uncle Jeff, Tia Emily, and my baby cousin Ella!

Anyway, as you all know, Cookie Monster is a close buddy of mine and he is lobbying to host Saturday Night Live now, so check out his audition video (below) and then join his BookFace campaign so he can do it!

The tryptophan is kicking in so it's off to bed for me!

I still had a very slight fever when I woke up on Monday which meant I couldn't go over to Miss Anne's. Boo! But then I heard Grandma Herbert volunteered to help me convalesce. And as an added bonus, Aunt Abby came over to play too. GmaH hooked us up with this giant piece of paper for us to color on. Then she breaks out SIXTY FOUR different colored crayons. Sixty four is a LOT when you're used to just getting Red, Blue Green and Yellow at First Watch. I mean, I don't know what Burnt Sienna is but I'm pretty sure it's awesome.
I didn't have a fever after Monday morning so I got to go back to MA's the rest of the week. But apparently not much happened Tuesday or Wednesday because I don't have any pics from those days.

On Thursday the 11th, Mom had dinner with "The Girls" but as you can see, I wasn't invited. As if that wasn't bad enough, then she goes and lets herself be photographed steppin' out on me. Ugh, the nerve!

Whatever. Since Dad and I were free we decided to have dinner with Grandma & Grandpa Davenport at... RED ROBIN - YUM! After we got done eating GmaD broke me out of my chair to get some QT. GmaD and I have this game we play where I dip a straw in her drink and then feed it to her. Here's a little replay.
Come on, what could go wrong? Oh, that's right, I could miss her mouth and stab her eyeball with a straw. Hey, you mess with the bull, you get the horns!

After GmaD put me down to pull the straw fragments out of her eye, GpaD was in charge of corraling corralling me and decided to see if he could lure me with a donation to my Play Cube college fund.

I may have been shunned by Mom and the "The Girls" but I had a blast with G&G D at RR.

Editor's Note: I didn't actually stab GmaD in the eye with the straw but I think she did get some water in there. I'm just trying to keep her on her toes!

The Transporter

I was feeling better on Sunday the 7th but then again, it'd be hard to feel worse. I still had a fever but for the most part, I was feeling normal. Grandma & Grandpa Davenport came over to watch the Chiefs game but I think they really just wanted to see me. That does sound like them right? They felt bad about me feeling bad and came bearing gifts. They got me two sets of four glove puppets; one farm and one jungle. The lion above is, of course, from the jungle series. I feel like a lion at a farm wouldn't be very sporting...
From left to right we have Monkey, Lion, Giraffe, Hippo, Lamb, Pig, Horse & Cow. I've enjoyed playing with these fellas and I know Dad thinks I don't share but I totally do because Penny feels like she just got eight new toys too!
The Chiefs game wasn't cutting it for me so GmaD read Doggies to Cow, Lion and Me. As you can see, I helped GmaD find page 9 - AAA-OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

G&G D came bearing snacks as well but since the snacks were on the coffee table and M&D were on the other side of the room, I volunteered to be a snack runner... but mostly because it involved dipping a pretzel chip in some french onion dip.
Though apparently not all transitions went smoothly. It definitely looks like this was a casualty. FUMBLE!

GpaD decided no trip would be complete without making a donation to my First Table & Chairs college fund.
Shortly after G&G D left, we packed up and headed over to Grandma & Grandpa Herbert's to celebrate GpaH's and Mom's Birthdays.

I did some playing with my vintage toys both before and after dinner and while I was playing with the type writer, something caught my eye. Tomy's Tutor Typer? Who spells Tommy with one M? So as you can see, I've gone ahead and edited the picture. (click to enlarge)
After dinner, I helped GmaH and Aunt Abby put candles in the cake but I was a little confused. We were celebrating two birthdays and by my estimation we were like 80 candles shy.
GpaH did the honors of blowing out the candles and did a fine job. TIME FOR CAKE!

Guess which one of these gifts I thought was awesome and guess which one I thought was lame? GpaH said he liked it but he was probably just being nice to AA.
I had a lot of fun over at G&G H's but that's pretty easy when I get to play with my vintage toys, hang with AA and EAT SUGAR RIGHT BEFORE BED!

Sick & Tired

On Saturday the 6th, Mom, Dad & I ran some errands in the morning and when we got home, I took a nap. Pretty standard stuff, you know, probably went to Target or something, really nothing to write home about. Blog about? Yes. Write home about? No. But when I woke up I felt awful and had a fever. Boo!
The worst part, aside from feeling like a full diaper, was that my buddy Maddie and Aunt Patty were supposed to come over to watch KSU take on Texas that night. But, we decided it was probably best not to expose them to whatever it is that had me feeling bad. Double boo!
I was also supposed to have a play date Sunday morning with my bud Eli who I haven't seen in FOUR MONTHS. That's like a third of his life! Eli turned 1 at the end of October and I think it's high time someone shows him how awful sharing is. Unfortunately we had to cancel that too. Triple Boo!

No Sale

Yes, that IS a Cookie Royale -- YUM!
Friday the 5th was Mom's actual birthday and as luck would have it, she was already scheduled to be off work. Sa-weet! We chilled most of the morning then headed over to the mall so we could have lunch with Grandma Herbert and Aunt Abby at Nordstrom Cafe. Dad got done with his conference call just in time to join us too. And when Dad got there I looked at him and dropped this bomb, "Hi Dad!" And the amazing thing was that Grandma Herbert wasn't the only one to hear it!

This was SO close to being an awesome picture. I need to figure out how to fake a smile on demand and still keep my eyes open. Seriously, where I did I pick that up?
Hmm, guess that answers that. I'm only kidding of course, I'm sure GmaH was just caught blinking... probably.
Also, how cute is my dress? It's a komono style dress that GmaH got from... wait for it... wait for it...NORDSTROM! It's uber-comfy. GmaH actually just got me some leggings to match it... which means I won't have to wear the brown ones I wore on the fifth. Yeah, brown (that's dark purple on the dress.) And Dad wasn't even the one that dressed me!
Later that night, M&D dropped me off at G&G H's so they could go to the movies. I had a lot of fun reading books and playing the piano, you know the yuzhe.
One of the things I enjoy doing at G&G H's is playing with the... uh... vintage toys. It's pretty sweet that despite being 25 years old, they're still totally entertaining and magically in working order. I just wish I had more coins for the cash register because all but one are missing. Hey, maybe I'll Bing It and see if anyone is selling them.
M&D came to pick me up after their movie but I wasn't done playing yet. Like, I found this Nordstrom bag (shock!) and hadn't even dragged it around the house on my arm.
It was a great end to a perfect day. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!
