Flip Out

Before I get started, I wanted to show you a cool new feature that Blogger offers. If you add /view/flipcard to the end of my web address, it shows you a picture from every post and when you mouse over a pic, it gives you the post title and date. And naturally you can click on any pic to review the post. I thinks it's pretty slick and an awfully handy way to stroll down memory lane. Especially since there are close to 400 posts to wade through. It may not be for everyday but I'll throw a link to it over on the right side bar just for you.

On Thursday the 24th Grandma Herbert picked me up from Miss Anne's. Sweet! I couldn't stay long but we crammed a lot of playing into a short amount of time. For starters, we made this book. It's MINE (says so right on the cover.) I get to put stickers in there or draw on it. It's pretty awesome.

Mom had work to do so for dinner Dad and I joined Aunt Darcy, Grandma & Grandpa Davenport for dinner at Houlihan's.
It was pretty sweet because they actually gave us our own little room. So essentially they saw us coming a mile away.
After dinner I made my usual rounds with by visiting with GpaD, GmaD and AD. And I must say, I had a blast.
One of cool parts about our room was that it was covered in mirrors so as I was climbing all over people, I could look at myself. Oh, and I guess other AD, G&G D too.
Uh oh, someone spilled some water. I mean, I couldn't have been me because I was busy squirming around on GmaD lap. This mystery may go unsolved.

Remember this pic? Well, shortly after it was taken I dropped the box of Goldfish and Aunt Lily went to town on the box. Since then, GmaD and I have playing a game where we imitate how excited AL was.

Before we left, I finished my rounds with a visit to AD. Somehow she managed to find a ticklish spot on me but I may be making that sound more difficult than it is.

Time Keeps on Tickin' Tickin'

Sorry this is such a short post. I've been uploading videos all night, though sadly not for this post. Oh great, I just got notice that I have 18 min of battery left. HERE WE GO!

On Wednesday the 23rd, Grandma and Grandpa Herbert had a dinner party and invited Aunt Abby, Uncle Scott, Mom, Dad and Me. We brought some fruit, GpaH made the salad, Gmah made the veggies and US cooked the chicken. Oh, and AA cut sliced the cheese. I love me some cheese but US's chicken stole the show.
That was until GpaH brought out an ice cream sandwich. Sorry US, but no chicken can beat these guys.

It seemed like we were only there a minute when M&D made us leave. I would have been content staying and playing but I'm not in charge (not fully anyway)
As if making me leave wasn't bad enough, M&D also put me to work. Wait, if they weren't carrying me and I was carrying the fruit, what were they doing? See, I think this is why they wanted kids in the first place.

Ha, four minutes of battery life to spare. I RULE!

One Day Wunder

So I've been ├╝ber busy tonight so I didn't have time to upload what is undoubtedly hundreds of pictures from the last seven days.

But, I do have one pic from last Monday already uploaded so I'll go ahead and blog so I don't fall more than a week behind... yet.

Monday the 21st was my first day back at Miss Anne's after spring break. I was definitely thrown for a loop when Dad didn't turn our of our neighborhood and head toward's Grandma's house. It's cool though, I had a lot of catching up to do with my buddies Logan and Brody.

After school Mom wasn't feeling great so Dad sent her to bed. Fortunately for Dad, it was in the 70's well into the evening (thanks which meant we weren't cooped up inside and got to play outside with my sisters. I must say, I've gotten a little cabin fever after this long winter and after waking up to snow on the ground this morning, I am really itching for some more warm weather.
I had lots of fun playing with Dad (sorry, no more playing dress up) and will update you on the rest of the week as soon as possible.

Fashion Police

Oh yikes, all of a sudden I'm more than a week behind so let's see how much I can bust through.

The 19th was pretty chill. In the morning, I dragged Dad upstairs to play in my room. I decided to play dress up but I never have to get dressed by myself and it's a lot harder than M&D make it look.
Every time I'd raise my leg to put my skirt on, I'd also raise the arm holding the skirt. IT'S HARD! Eventually Dad took pity on me though and helped me get my skirt on and even helped me with the sweater I picked out. The result?
Hmm. Not sure where I went wrong here but this is worse than anything Dad's ever put me in and he's had some doozies.

After my nap, Mom did hook me up with a proper outfit. KSU had a basketball game that night so I donned my new purple Puma dress from Aunt Darcy (thanks again AD!)
For a snack Mom made everyone smovies, or as you may know them, smoothies. I love smovies! They're delicious, they're cold and I get to use a straw. All things awesome.

When Aunt Abby got done working that afternoon she stopped by to say hi. I was really glad Mom put my cute outfit on because I would have been totally embarrassed if AA saw how goofy I looked earlier. Of course, to that end perhaps I shouldn't be sharing it on the info super net, eh?
While AA and I were playing, Mom had us pause for a photo opp. How do you like my "smile?"

KSU's game was pretty late so I didn't get to see it (which is probably best) but I got in the mood by playing with my KSU b-ball. Hook, hook, dunk, dunk.

On Sunday the 20th I got to go to church with Grandma & Grandpa Herbert. I begged Mom to let me pick out my outfit but after Saturday's debacle, she opted not to. Instead she picked out this totally cute silver tu tu.

Before G&G H came to get me, I sat and played with the magnets I got for Christmas. They are currently my favorite toy. I'm not sure M&D are loving them so much though because I've decided I can only play with them on the floor and I always make Mom and/or Dad come play with me... on the floor.

Can you believe I was the only one at church in a tu tu? Avery - FOR THE WIN!

After church G&G H and I headed to the Kemper Art Museum for lunch. Unfortunately the restaurant was really busy and didn't have a kid's menu (where's the fable?) so we decided to have lunch at home instead. But before we did, we scoped out a bit of the scenery.
Say what you will about blue grass but I love me a good banjoist. What? Blogger didn't put one of those red squiggly lines under the word banjoist? I definitely thought I was making it up but Merriam Webster confirmed it. I'm awesome!

Giant badminton shuttlecocks - still art!

I had a lot of fun playing with G&G H on Sunday afternoon
GmaH even let me put on CHAPSTICK! Sweet! Now, everytime I see M&D put on chapstick, I want some too. It's awesome!

Do I look serious here or what?

For dinner M&D and I met Aunt Darcy, Uncle Dave, Grandma & Grandpa Davenport at Salty Iguana. That me's in the front row with the tu tu - just to be clear.

Spring Broke

On Friday the 18th I broke the cycle and actually woke up at a normal time. This meant that Dad and I were on the road to Grandma Davenport's on time but when Dad called to make sure she was ready, there was no answer... because she was knocking on our front door. Oops.
No worries though, we just headed toward a convenient meeting spot to make the transfer and you know, maybe share a parfait with GmaD.

After breakfast we headed over to Grandma Herbert's - WHAT THE WHA?
GmaD heard about a "Girl's Day Out" at the Family Tree Nursery so we decided to check it out.
Being with TWO Gma's was totally awesome and for the most part the scenery was incredible. Then there was this:
Where's the fable? I mean, this thing stuck out like a fish out of water -- HA! What's even funnier is that Family Tree Nursery featured it on their blog as well, though not quite in the same manner.

After GDO@FTN the three of us headed to Nordstrom to see Aunt Abby and of course, have lunch at the Cafe. By this point I was worn out so we dropped GmaH off at home and headed back to G&G D's for nap. When I got up, GmaD and I did some more work in the backyard though to be honest, I spent most of my time scoping the bird feeder to catch a view of birdies. And still none.
I have to imagine we had dinner with G&G D on Friday night but there aren't any pictures of it so maybe it didn't happen. I can't believe my memory is this bad and I'm not even two yet. Ugh. Well regardless, my spring break with the Gmas was wicked fun. I hope they had fun too because they're gonna be splitting time with me again in about eight weeks. Rest up ladies!

Bird's Eye View

I slept in late again on 17th and once again Grandma Davenport made it over in time to help me get ready. From there GmaD and I did some shopping -- SHOCKER! We hit up Macy's and Target -- DOUBLE SHOCKER -- than headed to Houlihan's for lunch with Dad and Aunt Darcy.

It was fairly nice outside and while GmaD really wanted to hit the park, I insisted on a nap first. Hey, all work play and no play nap makes Avery a dull cranky girl.
After my nap GmaD and I did some work outside. We made way for some new plants, did some sweeping, picked up sticks and filled the bird feeder. I really like birds (call me the anti AD) so I was fascinated with that last task. I kept trying to call the birdies to come eat but they wouldn't. I figured they were scared of me so I hid out in the bell tower (deck) for a better view and they still never came. Where's the fable?

For all my hard work I got rewarded with some Goldfish crackers. Of course, when I do nothing I still get rewarded with Goldfish so maybe it wasn't such a good deal after all.

By the way, you notice my St. Paddy's T-Shirt? Cute right? And I didn't get pinched all day!

Mini is In

Wednesday the 16th marked the first of three days with Grandma Davenport. She came over to pick me up but I was still worn out from my days with Grandma Herbert and was sleeping late. That's okay, it was pretty fun to wake up to GmaD's smile.

After GmaD got me ready, we took a short trip over to Target. I feel like I'm at Target so much that when I walk in, everyone should stop what they're doing and chant, "AVERY!" a la Norm entering Cheers.
Our next stop was to go pick up GmaD's buddy Teri and the three of us headed off to The Legends. We hit up a few of my staples there, most notably the Carter's store. I talked GmaD into buying me an outfit, some jammies, new sunglasses and a T-shirt for St. Paddy's (sorry GpaD.) After the Legends we hit up Zona Rosa - that's right, this was a serious shopping trip folks. While up there, we had lunch at Tomfooleries. You have to appreciate anyplace that brings food out in a mini Radio Flyer. Anything miniature is pretty much awesome.

After we dropped off Teri, GmaD and I stopped by Price Chopper for some sundries.
I perused the book section (at this grocery store) and stumbled across Jake Logan's Slocum and the Terrors of White Pine County. This is the 384th book in the Slocum series (not kidding) but this was the one released in January and I was looking for Slocum and the Lady Detective which was released in Feb. Also, be on the lookout for Slocum's Reward, Slocum and the Ghost of Adam Weyland, Slocum and the Bandit Cucaracha, Slocum and the Big Timber Belles, Slocum and the Cow Camp Killers; to be released one a month over the next five. This guy's contract must be BRUTAL!

As we wondered around PC, we stumbled across this Zoo Buddies folding chair. I did a little test run at the store -- I'll take it!
Once we got back to G&G D's we sat out on the deck to enjoy the weather and wait for Mom to come pick me up. I passed the time with a box of Goldfish crackers; am I my father's daughter or what?

For dinner M&D and I headed over to the Fair's for a play date with David & Margot
I hadn't seen D&M in like four months so I was pretty stoked about playing with them again.
They told me all about their awesome trip down to Mexico. It sounded pretty bueno! Also, I totally love this mini slide (again, things that are mini...)
We almost ate outside but it cooled down just enough for Dad to pull the plug. Hey, I wore a sweater, not my fault if Dad came unprepared.
After dinner D&M got ready for bed and I crashed the party to see what books they have.

I definitely recognized a few of my favorites but found some other great ones too. I even talked Mom into reading one to Margot and me. Thanks Mom!

Well, it was an exhausting day and I fell asleep on the way home from the D&M's but it was well worth it.

Miss Anne is on Spring Break this week which means she gets a vacation from me. No worries, my grandmothers were there to pick up the slack. Monday was Grandma Herbert's turn and it was a great start to a busy week.
Mom had a Paper Mill Designs meeting in the evening but no worries, I stayed to play with G&G H. After I helped GpaH fold some towels, he rewarded my hard work with some piano. Some of you may recognize the music on my lap as Jesus, I My Cross Have Taken... some of you may not.

Tuesday was day 2 with GmaH:
So, this is my first stab at an "animated gif." The image above should actually be four pictures, scrolling through in a slide show of sorts. If you can't see it, it's probably your own fault. Remember, you're old, I'm young; you hate technology, I love it. If you can't see it though, leave me a comment so I know. If multiple peeps have trouble, I'll remove it from my repitoire repritoire repretoire bag of tricks.

As you can see, we made some brownies and I did a little taste testing to be sure we got the formula right. Verdict? DELICIOUS!

When I got home on Tuesday, Mom had another work function so Dad and I listened to some Pandora. It wasn't quite the same genre that GpaD and I were playing on Monday but it was still fun. Here's a video of me dancing. My favorite part comes in the last few seconds where I think you can hear Dad's heart stop. Sweet.

See a larger version at YouTube

After I defibulated defibrilated defibbulated defribulated revived Dad, we headed out to dinner with Uncle Dave, Aunt Darcy, Grandma & Grandpa Davenport.
When I was done eating GmaD worked with me on how to display "two" with my hand. When you ask how old I'm gonna be on my birthday, I'll tell you, "two" but I can't show you. Check back in two weeks and see if I made any progress.

Inspiration Interpreted

Sunday morning started off pretty awesome because after breakfast, Grandma Herbert came to pick me up so we could go to church. Sweet!

We got there a little early so GmaH gave me a little refresher tour. I was fascinated by this giant piano and was REALLY hoping we could sit down and play Take Me Out to the Ball Game but it didn't happen. Probably because baseball is still in the pre-season and GmaH hasn't caught the fever yet. Yeah, that's probably why.

Aunt Abby joined us and after church we hit up First Watch Corinth Square. While we were waiting to be called, we rolled down to Her Majesty's Closet where AA and I tried on... uh, what would you call these? Church hats? Sure. Anyway, it was pretty fun.

This place is definitely "inspired by pop-up designer shops on the East Coast and designer boutiques on the West Coast." Yep, this is exactly what I imagine when I think of Rodeo Drive. That's pronounced Row-dee-oh Drive, like in Mesquite, TX

After brunch, we headed back to G&G H's to play. GpaH wasn't feeling well which bummed me out but I still had fun with GmaH. GmaH likes to do pe-la-tays and helped me work on my Downward Facing Dog. I feel like my leg work is okay but I can't seem to get the proper extension in my arms. Don't worry, I'll stick with it.

For dinner, Mom and I met Dad, Uncle Dave and Grandpa Davenport for dinner at Ruby Tuesday. UD and GpaD helped Dad with booth building all day and their reward? All you can eat salad and hugs. Seems like a pretty sweet deal.
