All I Do Is Eat

On the morning of 8/21, Mom, Dad & I joined Aunt Darcy, Uncle Dave, Grandma & Grandpa Davenport for breakfast at 119th Street Grill. They had gotten there quite a bit earlier and were actually through eating by the time we got there but they didn't mind keeping us company while we waited. It had seven hours since I'd seen AD&UD and G&G D so I asked if we could have dinner with them as well. As is turns out, they were all down with the idea and we decided Minsky's sounded pretty good. But rather than eat within a stone's throw of Green Apple, we dined instead at G&G Ds. I thought this was a pretty sweet idea since GmaD has amassed a small a treasure trove of toys and I got to play right up 'til dinner and immediately after. Sweet.

The next day was to be my last Summer Monday with Grandpa Herbert. It's a good thing too because despite feeling okay, I had acquired a runny nose and a fever. To aid my convalescence, we ate lunch in but I decided to make it a working lunch and made a few calls while enjoying my soup and salad. All work and no play make me dull though so GmaH and I were able to squeeze in a little play too. Okay, maybe more than a little.

Off My Rocker

On the Saturday the 20th, Mom, Grandma & Grandpa Herbert and I made a trip out to Beloit to visit Great Aunt Janyce and Great Uncle Tim.
As we like to do, we stopped at the Cracker Barrel in Junction City but rather than grabbing a bite, we fake shopped for rocking chairs, used the facilities and got outta Dodge Junk Town.

Mom found that my magnets stuck to this baking sheet so she brought it along as a sort of a work station. Somehow the magnets only stuck to the bottom of the sheet though... not sure what's going on there. May have to do some google-webbing in a bit.

We had lunch in Beloit at the Chinese buffet with GAJ & GUT which was pretty good. I like rice and Mom discovered that the end of the buffet was full of fresh fruit too which doesn't necessarily make sense to me but who I'm to question Asian cuisine in Beloit?

After lunch we headed to a park so I could do some playing and release the energy built up from the car ride. This swing may look a little crazy but it's the safest I've ever felt in a swing and frankly it was awesome!

Time seemed to fly but I guess that's probably the norm for a day trip to Western Kansas. Despite the long car rides, I had a blast. The highlight may have been when Mom was driving home and forgot she wasn't driving a stick. She needed to shift but when she went for the clutch, she hit the breaks instead. No harm done but I was playing with my Bananagrams on the cookie sheet and about a hundred letters went a flyin'. Good times.

Lip Smackin'

Mom had dinner with the girls so Dad and I met Aunt Darcy, Uncle Dave, Grandma & Grandpa Davenport for dinner at Houlihan's.
Despite the gratis cookies with which Houlihan's wraps up each meal, we still headed over to Green Apple. Ice Cream by the Pound: Available with Cookie Dough!
After dessert I made a few calls. First up was Lily and we chatted for quite awhile. Don't worry though, I have unlimited minutes...

First Watch

On Sunday the 14th, I went to church with Grandma & Grandpa Herbert. And before you ask, no I didn't drive. Hello, I got a one-seater specifically so I wouldn't have to cart people around.
So instead I caught a ride with G&G H and since it was such a nice day, Mom and I waited for them outside. Mom took the opportunity to snap a few pics of me in my cute outfit. And may I direct your attention to my left wrist where you'll see MY NEW WATCH! Mom and Aunt Abby helped me pick it out the day before and I LOVE it. Would you believe that even as tiny as my wrists are that my watch isn't on the smallest hole. Crazy, eh?

After the service G&G H and I did a little photo shoot of our own while enjoying the shade. Mild August Afternoons? Who'd a thunk?

Prize Time

With Grandma Herbert back in town we were back to our usual schedule on Friday the 12th. While she was in California GmaH picked up this Hello Kitty bingo game. I'm not really sure what bingo is (other than his name-o) but I use it more as a match game. Still, I love it and it's really helping me with learning my letters. My current favorite: X... after A that is.

Also, here's me putting on some lipstick! It's not really lipstick, just chapstick. I find that during these humid summer days, that my lips just get chapped so easily. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

For dinner that night, Mom, Dad & I met Uncle Dave, Aunt Darcy, Grandma & Grandpa for dinner and Minsky's.
We ate dinner back in the game room and after awhile I had had enough eating so UD offered to win me a prize. Make that try to win a prize. Despite how easy the game looks it proved quite difficult... and expensive... for UD that is - HA!
As the others finished their dinners, they joined in the fun as well.
BUTTONS!
For dessert we headed over to Green Apple which is a short convenient walk from Minsky's. Ice Cream by the Pound: Calories by the Hundreds!

The next morning we had breakfast with G&G D at First Watch Shoppes at Corporate Woods and apparently did nothing for the next 10 hours until dinner with G&G D at Jose Peppers. YUM!

Rhino v Boat -- IT'S ON!

Since I spent the night at Grandma & Grandpa Davenport's on the 6th, we met Aunt Darcy, Mom & Dad for Breakfast at First Watch Shoppes at Corporate Woods.

Since Grandma Herbert was still out of town, we invited Grandpa Herbert, Aunt Abby and Uncle Scott over for dinner.
Mom shared her corn on the cob with me and it was GOOD!
I was pretty good at it too though my natural inclination was to eat it type-writer style whereas Mom goes around the horn. I mean, around the horn? That's ridiculous!

Not much doing the night of the 8th. Dad had cards so Mom and I just chilled at home. We played legos and one of us built the rhinoseraus rhinoserous rhinoserus rhinosaurus rhinosauraus rhinosaurous rhino above and one of us built the boat below. You have to guess who built which.

Skip ahead to the 10th and apparently the only fun thing I did was make egg caserole casserole with Mom. EC is totally delicious and we made a big batch so Dad and I could eat Momma's eggs for the rest of the week. YUM!

Wet Start, Hot Middle, Cold Finish

August 5th was another "Avery's Day Out" with Aunt Abby.
First stop: First Watch! After we fueled our tanks, we hit up Target without which no day is truly complete. I had my eye on some princesses but ultimately settled for a mini box of Goldfish crackers and a treat to be named later.

Next up was a trip to the playground. It had been raining that morning so that place was a ghost town. Not to mention all of the slides had water on them - save these two. It may have looked like a close race but I beat those Goldfish handily. They go down the slide like a fish out of water (INSERT RIM SHOT!)

Next we hit up Ms Hannah's office and came bearing gifts. I'm pretty popular 'round these here parts but when I show up with treats, I am Mrs Popularity. Also, I ate some of the treats -- COOKIES!

The night of Saturday the 6th, Mom & Dad decided to go see a movie so I asked to go play with Grandma & Grandpa Davenport.
For dinner we met Aunt Darcy & Uncle Dave at Han Shin; everyone's favorite Japanese Steakhouse. They were nice enough to make me these kiddie chop sticks which I had fun with while eating my salad.
Then came the rice.... uh...
And I was back to using a fork. You'd think for a culture where rice is so ingrained (RIM SHOT) that a fork or spoon would be a more natural utensil. I mean, the farmers aren't out there with pool cues! (Seinfeld - shock!)

It seems no meal is complete these days without some froyo. Ice Cream by the pound -- Forcing new holes in a belt near you! This is one of my favorite current pics. Kind of like one of those infinity mirror shots... kind of.
Uh oh, it appears GpaD forgot his change - SWEET!

Hey Boo Boo

On August 2nd, Aunt Abby stopped by after work to do some playing. My recent jaunts to Theatre in the Park have me in the mood to picnic pretty much all the time now but the closest I come is usually setting up camp on the kitchen floor.
AA even helped me put in a few hair clips

This is kind of off topic (me being the topic) but my sisters got their hair did on the 4th and came home with these... cute? bows. They're a cross between mini hats and feather boas. Penny managed to get her's off somehow but Parker wasn't as lucky and Mom was able to snap this pic.

After I got done giggling about Parker's boa hat, I grabbed my sticker book and did some playing with Dad. I think he's a little bitter though because I called that I got to be Stickers which left him as book. STICKERZ RULE!

Sunday's Best

I closed out July with a trip to church with Grandma & Grandpa Herbert. And if I can be perfectly honest with you for second, I got more than one compliment on how cute my dress was. In fact, I couldn't count the number of compliments... but that's largely because I can't count in general.

West Siiiiide.... of the driveway.

This was a special post church brunch too because we were joined by Dr. Gordon (the minister that married Mom & Dad) and his wife.

After brunch we headed back to G&G H's for some play time until M&D came over and put an end to our fun.
