Marginal Megapixels

It's kind of odd but after the 10th, M&D went on a "real camera" boycott and went nearly a week surviving on just cell phone pics... which will be pretty obvious in several of them.
We've been spending a lot of time at Home Depot lately which I actually really like. Actually, I just like looking for the truck (forklift) that drives around inside. That thing looks like so much fun!

One of the reasons we've spent so much time at the HD is because M&D have been working hard on the laundry room. I think they felt guilty about putting a new washer & dryer in an ugly old room. Too bad they didn't have the same remorse for the kitchen appliances! Anyway, since it's nice and it's new, I don't mind helping M&D out with the laundry a bit.

Aunt Abby came over on the 13th and we broke out some side walk driveway chalk and my motorcycle. How fun is driveway chalk? They're like crayons but for a MUCH larger canvas. Love it!

Later than night, Grandma & Grandpa Herbert dropped by for a visit - and may have come bearing gifts.
This one is pretty awesome for matching letters which combines two of my favorite passions -- uh, duh, matching and letters.

On the 14th I told Dad that I wanted to drink from my water bottle during breakfast. And TWIST, he agreed. The best part (aside from the label) is that you can click a button and the lid opens. It's awesome.
But sometimes it can be kinda hard to push. Fortunately I'm a patient individual and don't let things like that get to me.

That night, M&D and I took Parker & Penny for a walk. We haven't been on a walk in awhile and my sisters were loving it. Also, I just got to sit, all wrapped up in a blanket. Truly the only way to travel.

Memory Lane

So tonight I had occasion to go back and look at some old posts. If you've never done that or haven't done that in awhile, I highly suggest it. Pretty entertaining to see those old pics and, for me personally, to see how the general (insert salute) style of the blog has changed. It's currently 80/20 pictures to type (or 99/1 if you count pictures as 1000 words) but back in the day it was closer to 20/80 and quite a few posts with no pictures of me at all. I'm not sure that zero pics of yours truly caters very well to my core audience yet somehow I was trying a lot harder.

Anyway, during my stroll through remembrance alley (hmm, that doesn't sound right) I stumbled upon my previous two posts recapping September 5th (one of which was actually on 9/5!) If you recall, 9/5 is Grandpa Davenport's birthday and it appears there's some sort of clerical error. It appears that in 2009, 2010 and 2011, I reported that Grandpa Davenport had turned 39. Hmm, I'll have to look in to that (next year.) And if you didn't get the hint, I've included links to those old posts so you could go read them. Fun eh?

Okay, recallection blvd is over -- time for some current pics. (okay, one more tangent: I spelled recollection wrong earlier but the definition I was going for is "something recalled to the mind" so why is isn't it spelled like recall. Stupid English!)

On the 10th M&D and I had breakfast with Grandma & Grandpa Herbert at First Watch Shoppes at Corporate Woods. GmaH had just been out West to see Great Aunt Janyce and came back bearing gifts.
GmaH picked me up some new head bands and HAPPY FACE STICKERS! Sweet.
Action Shot!

For dinner, M&D and I met G&G D for dinner at Jose Pepper's. Afterward I enjoyed NOT looking at the camera. Oh how fondly I'm sure M&D look back to when just looking at me was enough to get me to smile!

Huge Hug Post

September 5th was Grandpa Davenport's birthday (39th if I recall) so we had a celebratory dinner at Jack Stack. Yum!
After dinner we rolled out to the parking lot to open gifts and I talked Aunt Darcy into galloping with me. Fun!
Post present opening I doled out a round of hugs (theme alert) and we called it a wrap on a super fun weekend.

On the Seventh we had a play date over at the Fair's.
Margot told me how much she loves books and letters so I asked M&D if we could break out Bananagrams and it was pretty sweet.
Margot seemed especially down with the letters - so close to an awesome pic!
As things started to wrap up, it was hugs for everyone one: David and Me
David & Margot, though Margot was less than thrilled.
David and Me again.
Margot and Me, again Margot was less than thrilled.
Mr. Bubba and Me.
And just before we left, we got in a little Ring Around the Rosie. We did NOT all fall down.

Bar None

The Fourth of September was JAMMED with fun.
We tried to go to Le Peep for breakfast but the wait was too long so we headed up the street toward First Watch... but stopped short at Einstein Bagel instead. I got a cinnamon sugar number with cream cheese. It was delicious... though perhaps not the cleanest option ever.

After an early nap we headed over to my buddy Amelia's for her First Birthday party. And how cool is this? It's a Goldfish cracker bar! Everyone loves Cheddar and Rainbow is my favorite but Pizza was pretty good too and then I found CUPCAKE GOLDFISH! YUM!
Amelia got to enjoy her cake outside and once her Dad (shirt had to be edited) showed her how delicious it was, Amelia was all about it.

We had to bounce a little early from from party one to head to party two - a BBQ at Aunt Darcy & Uncle Dave's.
By buddy Eli came with his parents (and his new little brother/sister. T minus a month or so!!)
Riley and I watched Eli play in the grass for a bit and decided that it looked like fun so I asked Grandpa Davenport if we could play too.
Eli and played this awesome game where you run for a bit... then fall into the grass. It was pretty awesome.
Oh, there was also a KU basketball which I rather enjoyed watching Eli kick around; the perfect fate for any KU basketball.
At some point AD saw how much fun we were having running around and decided to join us. Dad saw how much fun we were having too and yet, no running. Odd.

After dinner Eli was nice enough to share his mom with me and she read us a book. Eli is pretty cool people and I hear his Dad is priming him to be a pro golfer. I mean, we wouldn't be the first Pro Golfer / Pro Tennis Player couple...

Game Daze

On Saturday the 3rd, Mom, Dad and I had breakfast with Grandma & Grandpa Herbert at First Watch Shoppes at Corporate Woods. That Saturday was the first Saturday of College Football and even though G&G H were planning on spending that evening in Lawrence rooting for... that team I decided to still be nice and sit with them anyway. I can't promise I'll be this nice all season long but it's early and frankly, G&G H are more fun to sit with than M&D are.

Kansas State had a highly anticipated game against Eastern Kentucky and as such it was being broadcast... over the internet... on a KSU website.
To enjoy the game, Aunt Darcy, Grandma & Grandpa Davenport stopped by as well. I didn't find the game all that entertaining so AD and I played hair salon.
GmaD wasn't spared and got to play hair salon as well.
Then I drove back over to AD's... couch...

So she could do my hair, unruly as it may be.

KSU won the game (barely) and I had a ton of fun playing hair salon. Can't wait until the next game so we can do it again!

Baby Warm Up

I spent Friday the the Second over at Grandma Herbert's and I was in for a special treat!
Ginny McComb came over for a playdate! Miss Ginny is going to be a grandma on or around 11/11 so she came over, I assume, for some practice before the big day.
Baby Cogar is going to be spoiled rotten!

After lunch, GmaH and I headed over to the library for some playing.
Knee high letters? That's some big fun! (Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

When Grandpa Herbert came home we crammed in some playing before Mom came over to get me. I made a few calls during my post-nap snack then asked GpaH if we could read some books before I had to leave. As always, he was game.

When Mom and I left, rather than head home we headed to someplace called the Peanut where we met Dad, Great Uncle John, Aunt Kelly, Uncle Jeff, Aunt Emily and Cousin Ella.
I'm entirely sure why CE could choose to pop a coaster in her mouth (they're awesome) but I'm not entirely sure how it tasted. Can't wait until she's old enough to tell me!

CE was a bit squirmy but after making rounds, she settled for a little awhile next to GUJ (her GpaK) and was having a pretty good time. After all, Grandpas are pretty great.
