Golden Slumbers

I had a slumber party at Grandma & Grandpa Davenport's on July 26th because Dad was heading out of town the next day and GmaD had Friday off.
While GmaD and I were running around in the morning, we called Dad to see if he wanted to meet for brunch before heading to the airport. Turns out he did. (Sorry, backlit cell phone pic = bad.) I think our friends at First Watch Shoppes at Corporate Woods nearly fell out of their orthopedic tennies when they they saw us there on a Friday! CRAZY!

On Saturday the 28th Mom and I headed over to Missourah to celebrate Maddie's second birthday.
Read Maddie's take on it from A MONTH AGO! I'm the worst.

On the way home I talked Mom into some golden arches for a happy meal with french fries smoothie. Okay, so it didn't come with a little toy but it was pretty delicious.

That night Aunt Abby joined Mom and me for dinner at Cactus Grill.
After dinner we stopped by G&G H's to water their plants because they were also in California (CA - so hot popular!)

We rolled home after that to sample some pastries we picked up from Dean & Deluca. In the pic above I'm enjoying a pink number that was VERY rich. I tend to pick my desserts based on color (purple ice cream, etc) which isn't always a great decision but I couldn't resist this once. Yum!
AA spent the night - SLUMBER PARTY - and we had a blast.
Again, is this what it's going to be like to have a sister? Sign me up!

It's Tricky

Great Aunt Nancy got me a new shirt and a matching one for Cousin Ella... or so I'm told. I can't seem to find the link to her blog anywhere!

After school that day I played out back with my neighbor buddies Thomas and Brady. We bounced back and forth between my house and the swing set. But Thomas hasn't quite mastered "pumping" and without anyone to push us, we had to make our own fun.

Watch the video on YouTube
The Corkscrew (as seen above) is a great one but we got creative too. You can see in the shot below that we are riding horses. Perhaps my favorite part of the evening was something you can't see in the pic or the video: His RUN-DMC t-shirt, also seen here being worn by the DMC, Darryl McDaniels. Sweet.

The next night M&D and I had dinner with Aunt Darcy, Grandma & Grandpa Davenport at Red Robin. Yum!
When I got home, I did a little sketching. This is the whole family done entirely by me.
The big one in the center is Dad, going counter-clockwise from there is Me, the Peanut, Penny, Parker, Mom and Froggy. I don't know if you can tell but Mom and Froggy are holding hands. It makes me happy that they get along so well.

Stop on by and you can see the hard copy hanging on our fridge!

Career Path

Dad had a golf tournament on July 21st so Mom and I chilled during the day but she and Aunt Abby had a concert that night so I went to play with Grandma & Grandpa Herbert.
After dinner the three of us headed out back to get my burgeoning tennis career back on track.
They have tennis at the Olympics too you know. That's just in case my swimming career doesn't pan out. Actually, chlorine is terrible for your hair so maybe it's best that I stick with tennis.
Speaking of hair, it had been just over a month since haircut numero uno and I was due.
So on the 23rd Gammy hooked me up once again and once again we did it outside for easy cleanup. I'll be honest, I'm not looking forward to haircut #7... December... brrr.

Tuesday the 24th (and that's in July still) was my first week of my new tumbling session. And it was kind of a big deal because in this session M&D don't come in so I'm on my own... well, there's still a teacher or two...
Click to enlarge... then zoom in and you can see I'm waving to M&D... which is not great for my balance. Oops.

Miso Much Fun

I spent Friday, July 20th, over at Grandma Herbert's. Even though it didn't break 100 that day, we headed over to the pool for a little fun.

Aunt Abby stopped by after we got home from G&G H's and we did a little baking.
...and a little playing.
This kind of stuff is what Mom keeps telling me it will be like to have a little sister, except I won't be the little one. Just think, in a few weeks it will be me and the peanut playing princesses in the castle. Sweet!

For dinner Mom and I met Dad, Aunt Darcy, Uncle Dave, Grandma & Grandpa Davenport at the Cheesecake Factory.
On the way out GpaD decided I wasn't spoiled enough and asked if I wanted an official CF stuffed animal. I know right, OF COURSE CF has stuffed animals, why wouldn't they. It makes perfect sense. I picked out this fella - his name is Miso Salmon. Not to be confused with this miso salmon. Ugh, who would want that other one anyway?

Is It Time for the Party?

July 16th was my last summer day with Grandma Davenport so we made the most of it, including lunch with Dad, Aunt Darcy and Grandpa Davenport at Ruby Tuesday.

I was back hanging with Grandma Herbert on the 17th. We played a little dress-up and I may have fallen in love with my new wedding dress!

GmaH picked me up from Miss Anne's on the 18th so we got some more play time. I also talked GpaH into reading me a few books. I'm very interested in clocks right now (digital are cake) but these crazy old school clocks are hard... but I'm working on it.
Would you believe that I couldn't find a picture of this book anywhere and yet GmaH found it in her basement. Crazy eh?

Don't Deprive Yourself

I'm exhausted so it's gonna be one and done tonight.
M&D and I ate dinner with Grandma & Grandpa Davenport at Jose Pepper's. Dad's been harping a lot lately about eating healthy so I was PUMPED to hear that JPs's is on the short list. Who knew that mini tacos and gobs and gobs and gobs of tortilla chips with queso were so good for me?

Portrait of a Birthday

I forgot to include this in yesterday's post. Grandma Herbert has a ballet DVD that she lets me use to help practice my moves. I'm wicked good.

Saturday, July 14th was Grandma Davenport's birthday. To get the celebrations underway we met G&G D, Aunt Darcy and Uncle Dave for breakfast at First Watch Shoppes at Corporate Woods.
I'm very into family portraits right now with a little help from GmaD, I drew one that morning. From left to right that's me, Dad, Mom, Parker, Penny and the Peanut. I drew two of them - try to guess which ones!

Because I'm such a nice gal, I helped GmaD open one of her presents at breakfast. It came in this cute little blue bag which held a cute little blue box. FUN!

In case you're wondering, yes, I was trying to fix AD's hair - as per usual.

GmaD's Bday celebration continued that night at Jack Stack at the Freight House....
...before which I did NOT nap. What could go wrong?
After a few Zzz's (and some french fries that showed up early) I was nearly back to normal.

After dinner G&G D took me on a walk and we headed up to the pedestrian bridge that overlooked the rail road tracks. It was pretty awesome!

Dinner seemed to breeze buy (probably because I slept through half of it) and before I knew it, we were headed home.

On the way home I was jammin' to some Okee Dokee Brothers and Dad decided to take some video. Cell Phone Vid + Moving Car is not a recipe for quality but, here you go nonetheless.

And the party kept going when we got home.

Maleficent Magnificent

I spent Friday, July 13th with Grandma Herbert. We kept pretty busy including a tea party with GmaH and some other buddies on Aunt Abby's old bed.

That night M&D and I met Grandma & Grandpa Davenport for a show at Theater in the Park.
It was a Disney double featuring the Jungle Book and Sleeping Beauty.

JB was fine and all but for me it was pretty much just filler until Sleeping Beauty.
During the intermission M&D hooked me up with a new tiara and wand which made SB all the better (except when I accidentally hit myself with the wand - OUCH!)
Once it got dark the good pictures were a little hard to come by but I was pretty enthraled through the whole deal. In fact, I think this was the first TitP show for which we stayed until the end!
This TitP season had a pretty rough start with Legally Blond but totally redeemed itself with this show! Fairy God-mothers, Princes, Evil witches - THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!

Queueing

On July 12th M&D and I went to the Thursday Night Free Concert at Park Place. The band playing was the Doo Dads and it was packed! But the DDs weren't the only attraction. The folks at TNFC@PP brought in a face painter, a juggler (which doesn't capture how awesome this guy actually was) and a Balloon Artist -- all leading to WAY too many kids in such a small area. Fortunately one of those kids was my buddy Norah (with her Mom and sister in the bottom left foreground.)

It didn't take long after I finished dinner before I was able to talk Mom into taking me over to Paciugo - YUM.
After that though I got a little restless. Dad came to the rescue though and volunteered to take me to get a balloon animal. That may not sound like much but the lines were SO long that Dad had to try to keep me busy for what turned out to be over 45 minutes. The first five minutes of which were spent in the wrong line which didn't help get things off on the correct foot.
When we found the end of the balloon artist line I was able to keep myself busy for awhile by practicing on this impromptu balance beam. But before long I was back hanging all over Dad's legs which I guess was less than great with the heat... my goodness... the heat. Dad decided he'd rather have me on his shoulders so up I went. I didn't like it at first but as long as I could clutch Dad's neck, I was okay.
I was especially pleased when Dad broke out his phone and took some pictures with the front facing camera (and you know how I like FFCs.)
He even took a little video... which I was also in favor of!

I did eventually get a balloon and while I asked the guy for Cinderella he countered with, "no chance" so Dad talked me into a flower which looked pretty cool... until I realized that the petals were from a pre-made balloon and the whole thing took about 24 seconds. Definitely worth the 45 minutes in line!
I hit the dance floor to show off my new balloon which only enhanced my sweet dance moves!

I rounded out the night with some ring around the rosie. In case you're wondering, we did not ALL fall down. Guess who abstained...
