Star Spangled Spectacular

We invited some peeps over for the 4th of July and had a pretty good time. It was in the high 90s until about 7:00 when it plummeted down to the mid 90s. How refreshing!
When the sun finally started setting a lot of us headed outside to play.
Amelia is the youngest of us "walkers" so she got stuck with grill duty. I'm sure she's looking forward to Zack's first steps!

Mom broke out the sidewalk chalk for us kids and I got to work on a portrait.
After I put on the finishing touches my buddy Maddie came over for a look.
Being the joker she is, Maddie told me the girl had a little something on her face but that she'd take care of it.
Looks like she got it!
My portrait was sans face now but it was pretty entertaining!

As usual, I spent a fair amount of time on the swing and once I get going (I demand help) I can go with the best of 'em.

Of course, the slide is always a popular choice as well.

As the sun neared the horizon we walked across the Hwy69 bridge to watch the city of Overland Park's 4th of July Celebration set to tee of at 9:30
We had a nice swath of land from which to choose seats and I definitely made the rounds.
And I'm sure Mom was happy to eventually have me off her lap (was still about 85 degrees)
I also spent time sitting with Grandpa Herbert (who just got back in town) but when I saw Evan had an open seat, I mozied on over...

I had a blast and hope all my friends did too!

Remember, you can't take it with you, but you can lick it so no one else can take it when you're gone.

Until Later,
