Studying

On UPDATE: September (wishful thinking that I'm that close to being caught up) August 19th I went to Church with Grandma & Grandpa Herbert.
There was another picnic at church that weekend and after the service and a little organ playing, Mr Diebold and I enjoyed a burger together.
I don't know what it takes to become an official organ understudy but I've started taking piano lessons with GmaH so I'm well on my way. I hope this doesn't get in the way of my Olympic training.

Prairie Village

In an effort to prepare for the arrival of my sister, Mom & Dad ditched me at every opportunity during the weeks before Mae arrived. Maybe (and no, I won't be doing hackey Mae-be v maybe jokes - I respect my readers too much for that) that's why they didn't start working on this stuff in February - they'd miss me too much...?
On Aug 18th M&D had an appt at the hospital (allegedly) so they called upon their "Village" and after breakfast, I hung out with Grandma & Grandpa Davenport.
After dance class our first order of business was to get me a big girl bike. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! MERRY CHRISTMAS? HAPPY EASTER? HAPPY LABOR DAY? Merry... Saturday? Sure, why not.
After a few dozen laps around G&G D's neighborhood we chilled on the deck waiting for M&D to call for dinner.
HELLO JACK STACK! Though when we're this close to Red Robin, it's hard for me to think about anything but delicious delicious steak fries.
I clearly earned this...?

Things That Make You Go Hymn

August 15th was Chicken Nugget day at school and when I got home, Dad let me play outside. I stumbled across my giant purple ball and made an afternoon out of it.Action shot!

August 16th was apparently garbage day and in an effort to help out more around the house, you know, with the baby coming and all, I wanted to help Dad bring in the garbage cans. SO HELPFUL!

Grandma & Grandpa Herbert picked me up from school on the 17th and I got to hang out there for a bit because M&D had an appt for my sister to be.
And yes, that's GmaH's Hymnbook... which I decorated with some princess stickers... naturally.
After I got picked up I talked M&D into having dinner at Red Robin - YUM!
Then I somehow wormed my way into so Green Apple with Grandma & Grandpa Davenport. School, then G&G H's, then RR, the GA with G&G D. I don't know if I've ever had a perfect day but this may well have been it!

School's IN!

August 13th was my first official day of school!
Dad dropped me off via car-line (we just pull up and a teacher comes and gets me out of the car) and I couldn't get out of the car fast enough! Dad told me later that I didn't say goodbye or anything. What can I say, I was excited - who wouldn't be?
Mom & Dad both came to pick me up (via a car line once again) and Mrs. Nab brought me out - essentially M&D don't have to do anything - is this place perfect for our family or what?
To celebrate my big day M&D took me to Sonic for some ice cream before heading home.
Let me get this straight, I GET to go to school then I GET ice cream on top of that? SCORE!

Dress Wars

I spent Saturday, August 11th with Grandma Davenport. We may have done a little shopping (why, hello Mini Mouse "paper" doll) but we peppered in a little work too. That is, if you can call playing with the hose work. Give me running water and I'll "work" all day!
And when all the plants and flowers received proper reprieve from the heat, GmaD and I met Mom & Dad at Dodge City Distillery for dinner. It's not exactly Red Robin but it does fine in a pinch!

On Sunday I went to church with Grandma & Grandpa Herbert. Guess this dress isn't just for birthday's any more!`
After church GmaH broke out one of Mom's (or maybe it was Abby's - regardless, it was from the 80's) old dresses. I've decided this will be my wedding dress. Retro is in right?

Good Fun; Mediocre Musical

I spent Friday August 10th over at Grandma & Grandpa Herbert's after which the three of us met Aunt Abby, Mom & Dad at Theater in the Park to see You're a Good Man Charlie Brown.
I spent most of my time with AA which turn out to be an excellent decision because before the show even started she took me to get some ice cream - SCORE!
The show was okay but I thought the best part was the set design. (click to enlarge.)
That little dog house was also a living room and a fence and probably some other stuff. It was cool.
AA was pretty cool too.

School Daze

August 9th was my first day of school... kind of.
Mom, Dad and I got to go check things out as part of New Student Orientation - you know, to get the lay of the land.
Everywhere I looked there were things I love - Like STAR SPANGLED BANNER FLAGS!
Puzzles - especially of the US (this one was easier than my one at home!)
Things you can stack - that aren't even coffee creamers.
Kid Tangrams which Mom loves and I thought were pretty sweet too.
And there's even a little garden.

After NSO I went to my last regular day at Miss Anne's. Sad, yes but I'm sure I'll stop by every now and then, especially once baby Mae starts going there. After all, someone will have to show her around!

Flower Power

On Sunday August 5th, M&D and I had breakfast with Aunt Darcy, Uncle Dave, Grandma & Grandpa Davenport. And since M&D had (and still do) a lot of work to do before the peanut came home, I went and hung out with G&G D all day.
Thanks AD, G&G D!

Dad decided to start watering the backyard and somehow the flowers off the patio bloomed. AND DAD TRIED TO KEEP THEM ALIVE! (all long gone now of course.)
He let me water them with the hose which was fun, especially when it made rainbows against the sunlight.
Of course, I didn't pass up the opportunity to play on the swing set either. Am I rocking that thing or what???

After school the next day M&D showed me a new toy. It's a dry erase board/book with dry erase crayons that helps me practice my numbers and letters. You know I can do capital letters okay but this thing has numbers and lowercase letters as well. And did I mention the crayons are dry erase? Sweet.

M&D had new parent orientation at my preschool on the 8th so Grandma Herbert picked me up from Miss Anne's and I chilled there until after dinner. While I was there, I made a play-clay version of my family. I'm not sure who was who and I'm REALLY not sure how they're all gonna fit in that tiny house...

On Your Mark

I'm very into birthdays these days (why isn't everyone?) so I pretend my buddy froggy has one pretty much everyday. Mom helped me make him a card on 7/29 which is perfect because buying him birthday gifts every day was getting a little pricey!

Mom had to take her computer to the Apple doctors and while they operated, Dad and I chilled in the waiting room. They had iPads set up at a little kid's table and as luck would have it, there as one open seat left.
Dad helped my navigate to this Dora the Explorer game and it was pretty awesome (in case you're wondering, I "beat" it the first time through. YES!)

Dad took me to tumbling on 7/31 and I tricked talked him into letting me play on the playground afterward. Pretty impressive considering it was over 95 degrees. I am a little surprised to see Dad didn't find a shady spot though... weird.

On August first M&D and I met Aunt Abby and Grandpa Herbert for dinner at J. Alexander's. (Grandma Herbert was still in CA so we took GpaH for a burger.) After dinner AA showed us her new car... which was pretty similar to her old (by which I mean 6 months or so) car which got totaled in an accident. Nice Ride!

On the 2nd Dad and I played soccer out back which was pretty nice... in the shade. I like soccer... kind of. I don't really like having to chase after the ball though so if Dad didn't kick it directly to me, I lose interest. Maybe I'll play Olympic Soccer? Maybe not.

On the 3rd M&D and I went over to Grandma & Grandpa Davenport's for a party celebrating the life of Mom's buddy, Teri. I had fun and before I left I gave AD and GpaD big hugs.

The next morning was the last class of dance session.
They actually let the parents in this time (usually they're banned so we can concentrate) so we could show them what we've learned.

In case you haven't picked up on it, I'm kind a teacher's pet. Hey, I like learning!
Is ballet in the olympics?

Miss Jennifer and I are buds (again, teacher's pet.)

That night M&D and I had dinner at Gordon Biersch and sat outside.
Check out this effort at the maze on the children's menu. Pretty solid eh?
After Paciugo (yum!) we headed to Target -- could this day have been any better???
