Double Feature

After watching Chitty Chitty Bang Bang a few weeks back, Dad bought the soundtrack for us (read: me) and lets me pick the songs that play. It's win win for me because I get to listen to the songs I want AND play with Dad's tablet. Sweet!

On the morning of the 21st, Dad, Mae and I got up to do a little playing before church. Mae showed some interest in her bouncy chair so I decided it looked like fun too. Dad checked to see if there was a weight limit on the chair anywhere but there wasn't so I crammed myself into it. They may not print a weight limit but I'm pretty much it!

That evening we went to celebrate Uncle Tim's engagement to Miss Caitlin - YEA!
As things wound down (for us at least) I was playing with Aunt Darcy when Grandpa Davenport came over to make a donation to my piggy bank. I think some natural reflex of AD's must have taken over because when GpaD held out the money, AD's hand naturally went for it as well! It's not bad enough that I have a new sister to compete with but this is ridiculous!

On Monday the 22nd we joined Grandma & Grandpa Herbert for a special moive night at Theater in the Park. It was for Surewest customers and they had a bunch of activities for kids - like this giant bounce house!

After dinner Dad took me to get ice cream just before the show started. I don't know if she remembers my curly hair or the $2 dollar bills I always use but the lady in the white that mans the booth is always on the lookout for me and she's super nice. I'm sure she was bummed that we didn't make it out for Damn Yankees. I'm kind of bummed too because I start T-Ball in the fall which would have made it topical for me!

We've been to a few of these movie nights before and they're usually pretty tame but this one was fairly busy. I guess when you drop the price to $0 per person from the normal $1, you get all sorts...

Despite the crowd, Toy Story was great!

The next day we were back outside for my swim lessons.
The picture above is of me negotiating with my coach rather than jumping in as she asked.
And my negotiations worked because she came back into the shallow water which is all I asked... Until the next time!

From swim lessons we went directly to the regular Tuesday feature - Finding Nemo! The crowd was much closer to my liking and we got up nice and close this time. Great times!

I Call Shotgun

We go to target about 8 times a week and now that Mae is old enough to sit up well, I pretty much insist that we get one of these fun co-pilot carts.  Also, Mae isn't too picky on which side she gets so... I pretty much get to pick my side every time!  Oh, and pay no attention to the bottom left box on the warning label.  That "Not Intended for Infants" is meant for other infants.  I'm sure Mae is fine...

On the Ninth we went to movie night at Theater in the Park to watch... wait for it... CHITTY CHITTY BANG  BANG!!!  This is my FAVORITE movie and I was very excited to watch it with Mom & Dad - I kept leaping out of my seat to tell them what was gonna happen next.  Dad shut it down after about the fourth time but in his defense that was in the first 90 seconds of the movie...  As for the elephant in the room, i.e, my pink cheeks - I'm gonna blame the cell phone camera because I looked mostly normal in real life... mostly.

On the Eleventh we had dinner with Great Grandma Davenport, Great Uncle Todd, Rango, Aunt Darcy and Uncle Dave over at Grandma & Grandpa Davenports.  AND WE ALL WORE YELLOW!  Okay, not all of us but GGD and I did!  Guess the rest of those peeps didn't get the memo.

This Mr. Blurry Cam pic is of me at Tennis lessons.  I'm in the back wearing purple (naturally) and Mom and Mae are in the foreground cheering me on!
See?  What'd I tell you, more target.

Sunday the 14th was GmaD's birthday and we celebrated at Jack Stack - YUM!  For dessert we ate a cake that Grandma Herbert helped me make.  It was beautiful if I do say so myself!

On the topic of Birthdays, the 15th was Cousin Ella's third.  Happy Birthday Ella!

Happy Birthday 'Merica

On the 3rd, Dad took Mae and Me with him to Sam's Club for some last minute party essentials. If you're thinking, "Sam's club the day before a holiday - you're crazy" well, then you were spot on. It was crazy though only slightly crazier than your average weekend visit to Sam's. Doesn't bother me though, they still had the sample carts up and running which is all I care about. My fave of the day? PECAN PIE - YUM!

We had 40 or so peeps over to the house to celebrate the nation's 237th birthday. I was especially excited to show Cousin Jamie my bounce house while Mom & Dad were excited to have an excuse to use the new firepit. S'mores are pretty delicious!

At dusk more than half of our crowd headed across the street to watch the Corporate Woods fireworks. It was another great show - close enough to see and hear but not too close for those big bangs!

As if the fourth wasn't already a whole week's worth of fun, on the fifth we went to Theater in the Park with Cousin Jamie, Uncle Charlie, Aunt Abby, Grandma & Grandpa Herbert to see Peter Pan.
Peter and the Darling kids all flew too which is pretty impressive in my opinion. The rest of the show was... interesting... but we had a blast.

On Sunday I went to Church with Cousin Jamie, G&G H and there was a picnic/ice cream social. It was a blast but totally exhausting. When I got home Dad flipped on the TV to watch some sports but without cable, he settled for Ken Burns Statue of Liberty documentary on PBS. Dad seemed pretty interested but it wasn't long before the week's activities caught up with me and I snoozed with Penny for a few hours. Sweet, guess I can cross my July nap off my to-do list!

User Error

I hear Dad tried to post a video of me playing tennis on Instagram but messed it up somehow. Ugh, is there anything more pathetic than old people trying to use technology? Did you hear we got rid of cable? Yeah, I secretly think it was because they couldn't program the VCR DVR!

Anyway, here's a different video of me playing tennis with Grandpa Herbert. Spoiler alert - there's actual tennis in this one!

Swim lessons are half over and this is my report card.  Hmm, "Submerge head underwater" is.... still in progress.  Also, I totally have 3 days left and my genetics tell me thats plenty of time!

Highlight: I got to go off the low diving board!  I did get dropped directly into the coach's arms but it still counts.

That evening I played with Thomas and Brady from next door.  I gave them their invitations for the 4th of July which hopefully everyone else already has.  If not, feel free to stop by!

Boogie Down

With school out for the summer my schedule has been a hodge podge of fun.  I've spent a few weeks in "camp" at school, a week with Miss Anne and of course my grandparents are always willing to play with me whenever necessary. This week I have swim lessons at our pool and Grandma Daveport has been my escort.  I REALLY don't like going under water but I've been brave enough to do it a few times (though thankfully I didn't have to today!)  Here's a pic of my coach helping we swim on the boogie board.  GmaD took another pic as well but in that one it looked like my coach was trying to drown me, not keep me afloat.  I mean, I know I can test a person's patience but I don't think I'm THAT bad. Right?

Keep Calm and Blog on

Nope, you need not double take, this is a new blog - the first in months.  I've changed my mind set a little bit and hope to do more posts likely with less content rather than let the backlog build past the point of having fun.  So here goes!

Oh, here goes!

Mom, Dad, Mae and I met Grandma and Grandpa Herbert at Theater in the Park for its second ever movie night - just a dollar a head!  We saw Bedknobs and Broomsticks - who knew Angela Lansbury is British?

Great show, great weather, great company.
(This was written on a mobile device so we'll see how it looks - fingers crossed!)

Me, That's Who

On November 15th our class celebrated thanksgiving. We all drew roles; some were pilgrims while others, including yours truly, were Native Americans. I much prefer headbands to hats though so this was fine by me!
We had a Thanksgiving feast as part of the festivities and I was responsible for bringing the stuffing. Stove Top: Just the like the Pilgrims had. I assume that's been a tag line of theirs at some point right?

Everyone in the class was asked what they were thankful for and our teachers captured the answers so they could be shared with our parents.
My guess is that some parents were a bit more pleased with their kid's answers than others. Enjoy!

On the 18th I went to a birthday party for Brooke, one of the girl's in my class. Did you know you can have PONIES AT YOUR BIRTHDAY PARTY? I must say that I am a little disappointed that M&D had not made me aware of that fact. But, the cat's out of the bag now and guess who has a bday coming in under two months!

I'm the Arabesque Around!

Three months ago was the heart of football season and on November 10th, Mae and I donned our finest ksu garb and met Aunt Darcy, Grandma & Grandpa Davenport for breakfast at First Watch Shoppes at Corporate Woods. Oh, and Dad was there too.
After breakfast we headed over to G&G D's to play. Play means different things to different people though. For Dad, play = sit on couch and watch football. For Mae, play = sit. For me, play = helping GmaD in the yard or feeding my sister.

That night M&D and I went over to Maddie's house to watch KSU v TCU.
Cake & Ice Cream!

On Sunday the 11th, M&D (and Maebe, kinda) helped me with my turkey art project for school... that was due on Friday... the 9th.
I must say, I had fun doing this and enjoyed M&D's help but it was clear that several parents did a LOT more than just help. My goodness, get a grip parents!

Business as usual on Nov 13th. Arabesque here, arabesque there.
Arabesque everywhere. Everywhere? Everywhere.

Remember, you can't take it with you, but you can lick it so no one else can take it when you're gone.
